Question for the girls: do you prefer a male or female gynecologist? And why? And what has your experience been? Good or bad?

I’ve only ever had 2 male gynaecologists. One was horrible - he was dismissive, belittling, rough and made me very uncomfortable. I remember after my appointment with him, I got into my car and cried.
The other male gynae was amazing. He listened to every concern, addressed everything and answered all questions, he was careful and made sure that I was comfortable, and I left that appointment feeling great.

So I don’t think I have a preference for male or female, even though I’ve never had a female. I think it just depends on them as a person.

Someone once jokingly said that having a male gynaecologist was like having a mechanic who didn't own a car and had never actually driven one. That's my answer :)

I prefer a well educated and polite specialist. Earlier it was a man, currently a woman In general I have good experiences regardless their gender

I have only had female, for some reason. But I don’t care much, I love doctors, male and female. I feel comfortable with them touching me lol.

I even love needles.

I first noticed that I liked it, when I was 15 and I had to get naked on my top to be checked by a male doctor. I enjoyed it a lot.

I'm about to go to my first gynaecologist, for some medical issues. When my doctor gave me the referral, she said their name and I awkwardly went "is that a man or a woman?" Luckily it was the latter.

My point is, i don't think it is lived experience that makes us more comfortable with female gynaecologists. It just feels so much worse to have a man examining those parts, even though he's obviously a specialist. We're bound to prefer a woman 🤷‍♀️

I prefer a female gynecologist for a few reasons, I don't want to show my private parts to any other men other than my Husband even if it's a doctor and because I feel more comfortable with a female doctor to do these type of exams and explain what's going on. I once went to a male gynecologist and my experience wasn't the best I don't think he was professional and tried to make some cringey jokes to make me feel comfortable but that just put me off and I never went back.

I've never been to one, but I'd probably request a female doctor. Even though I know the guy is also just a doctor too, I might feel anxious around him.

I have yet to go to the gynecologist’s office, but I don’t think I would have too much of a preference as long as I was comfortable with the doctor and they were professional and skilled.

A woman I don’t want any guy getting weird ideas but I never gone to one but if I could pick. Definitely want a girl it’s better for doctor examining stuff like that

A woman because she will know what's she looking at and for. Also, she won't examine you like a plumber unstopping a sink with while using power tools.

@thegreenyogi i care mostly how good they are and education and experience wise. but if i have to pick gender i will say male, just feel comfortable , but my currently gynecologist is female

The only males I've had fingered my vagina and when i complained said it was an inspection but I Said Do inspections intend to make me squirt.
