The stinging horrible bit took one month (40 days to be precise). I set a timer for myself to just grieve in isolation and then had to jump back into reality again.
There were lesser waves of feelings or effects to deal with for several months after, but taking that time to myself helped immensely and allowed me to set a balance to my life after that moment.
(In the case of lesser "bad" moments. I have to heal on the fly. My "worst" moment I had to just stop and regroup.)

Not as long as it would have if I wasn't dating my wife. I married her partially as a result of how she supported and encouraged me
It did not take long for me to get back on track but I think I lost the capacity to enjoy myself after that
