Has anyone gone through anything traumatic?

Question

How do you deal with flashbacks from a traumatic event? My daughter got attacked by a dog and I had to pull the dog off of her to save her life. She was covered in blood and so was I.. when the dog was latched onto her for about 5-6 seconds, she wasn’t making any noise and so I thought he killed her. I just keep replaying the scene in my head. How does everyone cope? I also am blaming myself a lot since everyone told me not to trust the dog in the first place around her and I did. :(

Okay so for now on use common sense I'm sorry to hear about your daughter I have been attacked by a dog before too and it's messed up because I love animals and after it happened I don't care what kind of dog it was I looked at it eye contact and I would have killed it if it would have done anything to me I would have killed it what you have to do is talk to your daughter you need to start out slow you need to take her to the Humane Society that would be kind of crazy because it's loud with dogs barking but they have cats too you need to let her know that not all dogs are this way it's going to be hard and long process but it can be done if you have a pet store take her to a pet store with rabbits guinea pig hamsters let her love them in time she might change I still love animals and the odds of me getting bit or not that high the reason why I got bit is because that dog had attacking man who was actually three dogs on that man and when I saw that the lady had the dog in the house again I knocked on her door and I told her she needed to get the dog off the property now or otherwise I was calling the Humane Society so call whoever you have to call get it off the property now she called her mother while she's on the phone with her mother I said hey your dog is going to bite me get off the phone get the dog out of here now your dog is going to bite me and the dog you could just see the dog going nuts he was pacing he wanted me to throw a water bottle for it I wouldn't throw the water bottle and that dog circled around me jumped up and I saw it coming and same time I start coming my hand is going to smack him right in the face and he grabbed a hold of my hand and he tore it up but at the same time I was punching I was kicking so I mean it all happened so fast but he had a grip on my hand I've had him pulled up into the air at the same time he went all the way through my hand with his teeth that pissed me off LOL just be patient with your daughter you have to try to teach her did not all animals are bad only certain breeds common since it is so common sense

That sounds TERRIBLE!! I hope she'll be okay!! Just give her a lot of love.
Time has a way of healing most wounds. Back on Feb. 22, 1984, I was walking home from the mall about 9:30 at night to get ready to go back up that way to go to my new job I just started a week or so before and some asshole came OFF the road and intentionally hit me from behind with his car and left me for dead in front of the hospital!! He fractured my left leg and took a huge plug of skin out of my left elbow, about the size of a half dollar and almost to the bone!! I tried flagging down people to take me to the ER a block behind me but, NO ONE would stop to help me!! I had to hop up two wet grassy hills to get there on my own! I also lost my new job thanks to that!!
Anyway, for the longest time, maybe 20-some years, if anyone tried to "attack" me suddenly, like if someone just tried to tickle me, it made me jump!! I never had that before!! No one's tried anything of the sort in the past 10 years so, I don't know if I'm still like that but, I kinda doubt I am.

I've seen and smelled dead bodies, been shot at several times and I've had people people attack me several times, they repeat in my head but they repeat so many times I've become numb to it, I don't think it will ever leave your head but you won't feel the traumatic effect anymore after your mind adjusts to the thought
