Dang dude, hurting your shoulder going up in the attic sounds rough. When I heard the pop I probably would've freaked out too, that doesn't sound good!
It's hard to say for sure what it is, but if the pain improved a bit that's probably a good sign it didn't break or anything. A strain or stretch seems most likely if it happened falling off a ladder. Those can be really sore but usually just need some rest.
Maybe put some ice on it to help reduce swelling. Try not to use it too much the next few days if you can avoid it. Take some ibuprofen too. If the pain gets way worse or you lose motion/strength in the shoulder, I'd get it checked out just in case.
But for now just try to take it easy. Watch some Netflix with your other hand or something! Bet you'll be careful on ladders from now on, haha. Hope it feels better soon man. Let me know if it's not improving in a few days. Fingers crossed it's nothing too bad!
Thank for the reply and yes it's getting better day by day. It's still hurting a bit when i try to raise my arm above my head but i think i should be good by Saturday hopefully.
Yo man that's good to hear it's starting to feel a bit better each day. Shoulder injuries can linger if you're not careful, so take it easy for sure.
A few more tips - keep icing it regularly like every few hours when you're home. That'll help reduce swelling and pain. And make sure you're resting the arm as much as possible. No heavy lifting or anything that requires using it above your head for a while.
Some gentle stretching may help too once it's not hurting as much. Just easy range of motion stuff, nothing forced. And ibuprofen around the clock will be your best friend.
If it's still bugging you come Saturday, a trip to the doc might not be a bad idea. They can do some tests to make sure nothing's torn or check for issues you can't see. Better safe than sorry with the shoulder for sure bro.
But sounds like you're on the mend so far. Just chill with the ladder climbing antics for a bit! Hope it's 100% soon man, let me know if you have any other questions.
A strain wouldn’t have made a noise. You could’ve just cracked the joint, causing no damage but making it ache a little. If it’s that then it’ll go away soon. Otherwise, you could’ve dislocated your shoulder, but you’d definitely know if you’ve done that - you wouldn’t really be able to move your arm and the pain is pretty bad. You’d also be able to feel that your arm is out of socket.
woke up today it's still very painful. i can move my shoulder but it's extremely painful and im needing to use my other for hand for help. im getting worried should i give it one more day or go the ER?
i took some Tylenol know and it settled down a bit so i think maybe an extra day or two and i should be fine. Sucks i injured myself during a vacation lol.
Ice and Ibuprofen.
