Does anyone here get CLUSTER headaches?

These are headaches worse than any migraine headache I've ever had.
I take 800 mg prescribed ibuprofen for mine and in exactly 55 minutes it's gone. That is until the next night when I get another one and every night until they decide to stop. Could be a month or longer every night 10 minutes after I fall asleep. Then BAM, IT HITS ME AGAIN!

for me, the headaches were caused by fixed muscles in my neck, shoulders, and upper part of my back... it's called tension headaches

the pain was hard to kill with any painkiller, but fortunately, my doc showed me how to relax muscles slowly... it took me months to learn it, but now I use 800mg ibuprofen once or twice per month, if at all...

Yes, I believe I would get tension headaches when I had fibromyalgia.
I would get knots in my neck and back. For relief of those I had to recruit someone to push on the knot as hard as they could to break it up. Instantly the pain stopped.
I'm sorry you have suffered with headaches but now you know what to do 👍

Could it be eye strain? Scratch that. If you knew what it was you'd be able to resolve it!

Do you have any clues as to what might be causing it?

The medical professionals claim they don't know what causes them, but I have a couple of theories of my own.

Everyone has a trigeminal nerve (it's the 5th cranial nerve) it's purpose is to provide sensory intervention to the face. It is the largest of the cranial nerves.

Now since in runs across the right side of the face when that nerve gets aggravated by talking on a old fashioned telephone ☎️📞 or landline phone with a portable receiver, and you push on that nerve too long, it aggravates that nerve and sets you up for a cluster headache.

Stopping an antidepressant all at once without tapering off will set off that nerve.

During the summer going in the heat, then into a store with air conditioning then back in the heat and so on will trigger that nerve. If you sit in front of an air conditioner in the car or at home and that nerve gets too cold, it will give you a cluster headache.
The storage thing about these headaches is they happen exactly at the same time every day. They are only one-sided on the right side of the head.
People have taken their own lives because the pain is so excruciating.
Some people get several cluster headaches I no one day that can visit you everyday for months for some people.

You can also take migraine pills for it, but insurance only covers 9 pills a month.
So thank God the 800 mg ibuprofen worked for me anyway.

No one should ever have to experience cluster headaches in their lifetime. The pain is that bad! 🤕

I'm so sorry to hear about how painful it is..

I have a suggestion that may or may not make a difference (although I reckon at this stage anything is worth a try) Wark up some milk on the hob 9or a microwave) only not too hot.. just warm. Dip cotton wool balls into the milk, drain it off and then lie back whilst your eyes are closed and rest until the milk gets cold, you can repeat it as many times as you like.. My Mum swears by that remedy for headaches/ migraines so just maybe it'll give you at least some relief. I hope so anyway!

I forgot to add the most important bit.. The cotton wool balls rest on your eyes Oh and make sure you place a fairly big towel around your neck because the milk does go everywhere

Oh I also forgot one more thing that you reminded me of.
I get a big kitchen bowl and put the hottest water in it till it burns my hands.
Then I take a washcloth and fold it in half. Dip it into the scorching hot water and place the washcloth on the right side of my face covering it as much as possible. As soon as the washcloth starts to get the slightest but cool, apply another hot washcloth. And I have to dump the water out and keep getting scorching hot water again. My face doesn't even feel how hot the cloth really is because the pain is so severe, a hot washcloth doesn't even phase my face.

I need a mom like yours to take care of me. I wouldn't even know where to get cotton wool. But thank you anyway 🙂

Get a high quality Vitamin D supplement and drink nothing but water.
Cut down your sugar intake too

I had a minor headache about a year ago. Before that, I couldn't tell you when I had my last one! Decades ago!!

They hit when you least expect it. Could be years in between the cluster hits out of nowhere.
