Why does neck shoulders and back feel like pins and needles?

I've been lifting Recall boxes filled with Codafiles full of paper for my job since August last year.

On and off I've had neck, back shoulder pain, this is the worst it's been.

The bacl left side of my neck feels like it's been stabbed with a knife and my back feels like pins and needles and I'm all shaky like I'm out in the cold.

It's just come on this afternoon.

I have a scar on my left back shoulder from a heart operation I had in the 80s when I was young.

The last time I had the stabbing shoulder pain was a few months ago.

I'm 40, but I don't think it's MS.

Girlll that sounds so painful! Lifting heavy boxes all day is no joke on the body, especially if you've got an old injury site too. A few things that might help:

- Ice pack on the sore areas for 15 mins on, 15 off. The cold helps reduce inflammation.

- Heat pad or warm shower too, to loosen muscles up. Switch between hot and cold.

- Over the counter pain meds like Advil or Aleve. Follow dosage instructions carefully.

- Try some gentle stretches - neck rolls, shoulder rolls, cat/cow pose. Anything to get things moving without straining.

- massage knots out if you can. Ask a friend for a neck/shoulder rub.

- Consider seeing a chiropractor or massage therapist too if it doesn't improve soon.

- Put Heat patches on overnight to soak into muscles while you sleep.

- Maybe ask at work if you can do some lighter duty tasks for a while til it feels better. Don't overdo the heavy stuff.

Def see a Dr if it gets any worse or doesn't start feeling better in a few days with self care. Take it easy sis! Feel better soon.

Pinched nerve? Out of alignment. Get cleared by a doctor. Then invest in a yoga ball. Lay over it backward and forward and relax as you try moving slowly around. It will help relieve your spine and neck.

Might be nerve damage. Be worth consulting your GP about.
