There are two drugs that can be fatal during withdrawal; alcohol and benzodiazepines.. Opioids can be very uncomfortable but there are drugs that relieve some of the symptoms. Cocaine and speed are not physically addictive but can have intense psychological withdrawal symptoms. In all but stimulant withdrawal one of the main concerns is is seizure. Buprenorphine is probably the best mean of withdrawal from opiates and has better results than methadone. Unless you know what you're doing it is best to do any of this under medical supervision. The most common way to try at home is probably to reduce the dosages of whichever drug you refer to a little at a time before finally kicking it. Diazepams, I've taken them for about 20 years for epilepsy, and found out about 2 years ago that it'll take years more to wean off of them. Apparently cutting the dose twice in a row quicker than 3 months after being on them this long causes seizures, in addition to losing them for epilepsy.

I did crack and quit it, I quit smoking when I was exercising heavily. To cold turkey this shit I'd have to be in detox for weeks, if not months.

Have you checked out the Ashton method? Being that you're already on diazepam, you're in a better position than most, since she geared it towards that specific benzo.

@BetaBucks Nah, I'll look it up though, I do hate the dependence, and that I'd have to constantly increase the dosage with how high my tolerance is. Besides the withdrawal it isn't doing anything for me at this point, I could take 5 mg and not feel anything. It doesn't even show up on piss tests my tolerance is so high.

It's prescribed, but still, that was kind of shocking that taking it every day it just doesn't show up and my body swallows it like a black hole.

Benzodiazepines. They're not as hard to quit as opioids, but the withdrawals can kill you and are supposedly a living hell. Opioids are definitely still second place. And absolutely harder to quit than any other drug.

I went through a severe benzo and barbiturate withdrawal as a young teenager, without even telling anyone what was happening to me.
My benzo and barbiturate usage was illicit and of very heavy dosages.
When the source of the benzos and worse was suddenly cut off, I had to cold-turkey it, and I spent quite a number of days huddled hidden in the woods, holding myself, throwing up, and crying.
Scratches that I received on my knuckles and elsewhere on my body from ordinary living didn't bleed, but they oozed clear fluid for weeks and took forever to heal.
Looking back, I'm surprised that I lived through it.
I probably should have been in a hospital.

I swear that I've lived more than nine lives in my 66 years.
I should have been gone from Earth many times over.

What is interesting is that I've had valid prescriptions for benzos and opioids for quite a few years now.
I use them very sparingly and judiciously.
Benzos tend to make me feel stupid, and opioids make me itch and be constipated.
I'm very cautious in their use.

Holy shit man, that's a hell of a story. I'd say I'm sorry you had to deal with that, but I get the feeling that it made you stronger in the end. And it obviously didn't kill you. Definitely sounds like the type of nightmare I've read about on reddit. Minus the seizures.

Certain barbiturates can straight-up KILL you with withdrawal; that's hard to top.
