Has anyone here ever had a concussion?

Question

For anyone who has had one how long did it take you to start feeling normal again?

3 days ago I was in my garage moving things and some very heavy tools hit my head, fainted hit my head again on the ground. I have all the typical concussion symptoms. I've been ignoring them hoping things go back to normal but today i woke up with two black eyes. I'm just so reluctant to go to the hospital like when's this gonna fix itself 😖

I have had one- when I was in High School we had a "bowling" unit to our gym class that was off campus. They packed way too many of us onto a school bus, well over the listed capacity. I was standing in the aisle when the bus made an abrupt stop, and before I could really react I hit the floor of the bus- hard. Was directed to the school nurse when we returned to campus, and ended up going to urgent care for it. My parent's health insurance provider ended up suing the bus company and the school district over the whole thing, and they settled out of court for an undisclosed sum of money.

I remember symptoms of the concussion showing up days later as well. If I were you, I'd head to the hospital, put that military insurance to use. Better safe than sorry.

Jesus Christ…. go get seen ASAP! I’d like to think you’re out of the woods by now, but I’m not a doctor. I do know that going to sleep with a concussion can be fatal. At my last job, there was this nice old guy Bill who was the receiver at one of the Walmarts I was responsible for. Sadly, he fell from a ladder and hit his head, went to sleep, and never woke up again. Have heard of other instances of this before that and since then. It’s serious, SERIOUS shit, so don’t play around! Especially if you’re experiencing symptoms! Your brain could be bleeding, that’s what happened to that other guy. Never shrug off a head injury.

Please go get checked out immediately, for your kids, if nothing else. Hope you’re ok and that you feel better soon!🙏❤️

Mine only lasted like two days after I got into a brawl with two pizza dudes, as I was fighting with one and I had him on the floor, the other ran up behind me and kicked me in the back of the head, a mistake he instantly regretted cause he turned him back on the person he was suppose to be fighting, my brother (yes the pussy stopped fighting my brother to come kick me in the back of the head) bro kneed him in the face and bro lost his temper and kept hitting him as the man wasn't even conscious anymore, just laying flat on the ground as bro was destroying his face, by the time i stopped fighting the other guy i looked over on a pile of bloody meat which used to be the mans face, the dude is alive, its all settled with police and whatnot but I had a concussion after that shouldve lasted lonver tbh.

that’s not good if you have insurance go right to the doctor like right now and they will tell you what’s going on. Don’t play around with your head. If you don’t have insurance, just go anyway you’ll have to pay them back slowly or ask for a forgiveness bill if you don’t have the money.

I really really need to go to a doctor and have it checked out because when things happen like this there's all different top type of things that can happen to you after it from blood clots I mean the damage just that a compassion can do to your brain is unreal and there's been many studies on it from football injuries to NASCAR accidents I need to people just working in their garage and something hits them in the head yeah I mean if there's a little not back there and it was had internal bleeding you really should get it checked out if you can and it does take anywhere from a day to week maybe you know depends on where you hit how hard you were hit I've had a couple concussions and they're not fun they make you feel weird that's for sure but I would get it checked out Apple

Oh, no! I've had a few in my day. My symptoms were nausea, confusion at times, sensitive to light, headaches, ringing ears... It's really important to immediately go to the ER if you have any neck pain or visual problems. I suggest you go regardless! I don't want anything happening to my Apple dumpling. I actually get tested for cte or at&t or STD? Whatever that test is for long term effects of concussions on your brain but as you can tell, my brain is just fine! 😁

You can die from a concussive brain injury. The brain swells and cuts off its own blood supply thereby killing you.

My brother threw a baseball bat at me and it hit me in the back of my head and knocked me out cold. I had a big knot on my head and a headache for a couple of days. I was 16 when this happened and never saw a doctor. Lots of people today think I have brain damage though.

It takes a week or so for it to start to feel normal again. The biggest thing is you shouldn't have slept the first 24 hours or so. After that ibuprofen and rest.

I stepped on a thick metal landscape rake while shoveling snow and the handle hit me in the head giving me a concussion. Was out cold for about 5 minutes. I started throwing up. The boss drove me home. I had a huge lump on my forehead and my vision was blurry. My head hurt for 2 days, vision got clearer after a day. I never went to the hospital or doctor. The 3rd day I was back to work. That happened about 20 years ago

I expect most of us have. If you were unconscious, you should have gone to the ER to be checked out. Serious concussions can be fataI.  I'm not a physician. If you can, have yourself checked.

You should see a doctor to make sure there is not more serious damage. You could feel fine and have a brain bleed and not have any serious symptoms for several days.
