Have you ever had a traumatic injury, and have you fully recovered from it? Myself, I have and I'm back 100% now.

I was hit by a semi truck doing 50mph. $11,000 damage to my truck but I walked away with minor neck and back injuries. They said because I’m in taekwondo.
Man in town survived similar and was a body builder. Ironically he ended up being one of the men replacing my water main. Small world.
Also shows working out at higher levels is good for you.

Gunshot wound for me, wrong place, wrong time. Doctors said my level of fitness probably saved my life.

I was at a gas station walking back to my car when 2 guys tried to car-jack a Range Rover in the next row from my car, the lady managed to drive away, and on guy started shooting at her. I was dressed for a night out, and ran quickly to my car in my high heels, peeled out and got away. Once I started driving I felt short of breath, and a sharp pain in my chest, I realized I'd been shot. I managed to drive my manual transmission sports car with my right hand, while holding a cloth over my wound with my left hand, drove 4 miles to the Hospital and walked into the ER before I collapsed. Worst pain I've ever felt, but I'm back to 100% now, but I wouldn't recommend anyone taking a bullet in the chest, lol.

Thank you. My dad's a US Navy SEAL officer, so he's taught me a lot about self defense and how to react in a stressful situation, and I think I handled it pretty well. Fortunately for me it missed my heart and arteries by millimeters, so in a sense I was "lucky", lol. Either way, I'm proud that I was strong enough to prevent it from taking my life.

@Guardian45 I try!! I was very lucky then, but I also think I did some things on my own that helped. My dad taught me well, not to freak out in a bad situation, just stay calm and focus.

a few. I fubared my knee playing football, not soccer, I now have a brand-new shiny one that was put in a couple of years ago, tore my rotator cuff in 3 spots at a house fire, had my big toe sewn back on by the local doctor after a fight with a John Deere tractor when I was in 7th grade, had about 2 liters of fluid sucked out of my left lung. Long story short, it was fire department related, a few stitches here and there, a couple of concussions, a couple of broken ribs, a few strains and sprains.

@susie22 Yes, although it wasn’t a traditionally physical injury, it very much was traumatic. I was raped my my uncle (who just happened to be my fathers twin brother) on my 13th birthday! The first few times it was very forcible, although I weighed maybe 70lbs (32kg) and he was about 280lbs (127kg), so I quickly realized that fighting him off was absolutely fruitless, and just lay there motionless! Because he was very well acquainted with the family schedule, he was able to rape me almost every week day for 3 months! To illustrate the depravity of this, the first time he penetrated me, as I was crying and begging him to stop, I felt the stinging and burning of my hymen being torn, he whispered “Oh god, I can’t believe I’m finally getting to fuck you. I’ve wanted this for years”… Years? I was 12 the day before! Anyway, he read on a site for pedophiles, that if “the last thing you do is give her an orgasm, she will likely blame herself and and filled with shame b/c she liked it, that she won’t ever tell anyone.” So he made sure to go down on me until I orgasmed every time, just before he left. I didn’t tell a soul, because I WAS ashamed! But after I missed my second period, I waited until he was done, and I called my mother and explained everything! She sent an ambulance, and when I arrived at the hospital, the rape-kit room was filled with a Dr’s, nurses, cops, and psych professionals. It took 5 years of intensive therapy, and eventually group therapy on Saturdays. But today I would say that I am mentally healed. Obviously I will always live with this. But it’s okay. I can discuss it without feeling emotional, or crying. One of the biggest things for me was in helping others as a peer counselor, something I still do with my volunteer work at a rape crisis center. It’s not a traditional “traumatic injury” but I did require surgery! But again, today I’m basically back to normal, and I have stopped all therapy. If you read his far, thank you for your time.

I took my BMX bike and on a dare hopped it off a 8 foot wall at about 13 years of age. Landed forehead first and was knocked unconscious for 3 days.
