Contrary to claims, there’s little or no evidence that drinking raw milk provides health benefits, including protection from certain infectious diseases, said Dr. Megin Nichols, the deputy director of the Division of Foodborne, Waterborne and Environmental Diseases at the C. D. C. The Food and Drug Administration says pasteurizing milk kills the virus.

The F. D. A. said in a statement that there are no scientifically proven benefits to drinking raw milk and that “the health risks are clear.”

The sale of raw milk is illegal or heavily restricted in around two dozen states, and the F. D. A. bans the interstate sale of raw milk. But a growing number of states allow producers to sell raw milk directly to consumers.

Eviane Leidig, a postdoctoral researcher at Tilburg University in the Netherlands who researches extremist movements, said the consumption of raw or unprocessed foods had emerged as a rallying cry on parts of the political right. Pasteurized milk, which these groups falsely claim is injected with dangerous chemicals, is referred to as “state-approved milk.”

“The consumption of raw milk, raw meat and raw eggs is a right-wing subculture that has been growing in popularity over the last few years,” Dr. Leidig said.

Todd Callaway, a professor in the department of animal and dairy science at the University of Georgia, said that modern dairy farms had made raw milk safer to drink than it once was, but that “it’s still not a great idea” to drink raw milk, which may still contain dangerous germs. Nearly all store-bought milk is pasteurized.

“I don’t know that a lot of people understand what pasteurization is,” Dr. Callaway said. “It’s just heat treatment. There are no chemicals being pumped in.”

Can we also address that it's FUCKING BIZARRE we drink other animals breast milk? Don't misunderstand. I'm NOT giving up cheese!! But milk itself IS KINDA weird!

Not sure about the raw meat. Seems like a way to get salmonella or worms but there is a rejection happening of a lot what government agencies have been telling us is healthy for decades. I don't see a problem with raw milk, we used to drink it growing up. I would say the big problem with milk in general is the hormones cows are being pumped full of which a long with other foods is probably causing girls to develop early and for boys to grow moobs. There is little trust in food organisations like the FDA due to history.

My husband and I raise hens and ducks for eggs. Grow our own vegetables and fruits, grow hydroponics with fish. We've had visits from the city in regards to this. They haven't done anything yet but our fear is that they will get us to shut it all down not because we are breaking the law but because they don't like it and fighting it with lawsuits would force us to stop as it's too expensive. We do sell our produce though legally we aren't allowed as the city doesn't allow that. We've made a clean fortune selling eggs. Seems any hustle you can do to earn extra is banned.

The mild heat treatment of pasteurization kills listeria and other pathogens. Just like cheese, milk tastes good and makes many foods taste good.

If you're eating cheese, you're eating a fermented version of milk. So, you're still imbibing another animal's breast milk. Same with goat cheese and milk.

No human wants to be milked for a lifetime. So, we've arranged for a substitute. Milk cows appear to have a decent life. They aren't turned into steaks.

According to these people, anything to do with science is apparently somehow "leftist" and part of the "woke hive mind."

It's somehow gotten to the point that embracing science is bad, which makes absolutely no sense to me. They are against anything remotely resembling what they consider "socialism" up to, and including, any sort of government regulations intended to keep people healthy.

They've been brainwashed into believing that it's all an attempt to control them, simply because a dipshit that thinks orange is a natural skin tone tells them to, and a guy with a brain worm decided that pasteurization is bad.

Ivermectin is no different then any other medication in that the dose and miss use makes the poison. As for raw meat*, milk, and eggs, they can be safe to eat depending on where it's sourced and how it's prepared. Raw milk from a local farm you trust and know has an above normal hygiene practices, is completely safe for healthy individuals to eat. Eating raw meat being safe depends on the meat and how it's prepared, eating raw chicken is straight up un safe, but eating certain beef and pork dishes made with raw meat is safe, Mettbrötchen is one example of raw pork being safe to eat. Raw eggs being safe to eat depends on how they were harvested/processed, if they are washed and sanitized requiring refrigeration, then they are not safe to eat as the washing removes the protective coating allowing harmful bacteria to enter, unwashed eggs (most in the US aren't) which still have their protective coating and don't require refrigeration are generally safe to consume raw, and it's actually quite common in Asian countries to eat raw eggs, in Japan a popular dish is raw egg mixed with soy sauce over rice.
