Isn't it interesting how a fetus can fit in a small baby bump?

I'm 33 weeks pregnant by now but my baby bump isn't that large. It's actually smaller but according to my Doppler ultrasound today, both my baby's size and weight are above average. His weight is 2.400 kilos and size is estimated to be about 48 cm long. I'm told his limbs are very long.

I've gained weight at a very slow pace and even so, my facial and other features are still thin. This has me intrigued, how a fetus can fit in a small space. Not sure if this is common; a small baby bump but big baby. This explains the pressure I've been lately feeling. I feel as if I'm carrying a heavy bowling bowl at times, so tight and compressed.

I'm wondering if my baby must feel a bit uncomfortable in such a small space.

I was sent to have the Doppler ultrasounds because initially they were worred my baby was small for his size but it's the opposite. My belly is smaller for 7 months but my baby is bigger than average.

The way that I understand it, women can have sliggt variations in the way their uterus is positioned, and the baby can grow in multiple orientations.

Sometimes, the uterus tilts back sliggtly, and the baby orients more internally, towards the spine. In such cases, the baby bump would appear smaller. If the uterus is oriented more forward, and the baby grows towards the abdomen, you end up with a larger bump.

That must be also why I'm feeling to tight and compressed.

I'm by no means a medical expert, so if you have concerns, it's always best to ask your doctor, but I think it's at least a possibility.

So far I was told everything is going normal and right with my baby and those symptoms are common because I'm getting closer to the due date, which is on June 8th. I can't wait to give birth and feel comfortable again. I missed my old sleeping positions.

Haha, well unfortunately, I can't say that I personally understand, but having been around pregnant women, I have seen how uncomfortable they were.

It definitely crazy. All my kids had different placenta placements so my bump grew differently with each pregnancy. Some of them were squished while others had lots of room to move

yeah it's amazing how each pregnancy is different. Right now as I'm replying, my belly feels hard and so tight, compressed.

Have you had any Braxton hicks contractions? It's like a practice contraction but your belly gets hard and tight

yeah that started within these past 3 weeks, on this month

At 12 weeks, did you have cramps and breast tenderness?

I only had breast tenderness (not always though, at times) at 12 weeks but no cramps. That was actually that most relaxing stage of my pregnancy.

yes it's showing and it's obvious but it's not that big

yeah everyone notices it by now. It's a smaller bump but definitely noticeable.
