Has anyone here got good medical advice from GAG?

Personally I would never ask for medical advice on GAG. At least not for anything major. But I saw someone doing this. It got me wondering how many more people have tried this, and what were your results?

Nah, for information on health-related topics, I prefer to do the necessary research myself, as I have a solid background on biology, so it's relatively easy for me to cross-reference information from different sources and compare it to my case and come to an initial conclusion about what might be going on. I only trust and get my information from reliable sources, such as the Mayo clinic, Nih, or WebMD, or peer-reviewed academic journals. Part of a proper diagnosis involves a clinical examination, which is something that can only be done by a medical professional and in person; not on the internet or through the phone.

This is the same reason why I avoid answering these questions, unless it's about something I have personal experience with. Even then I always urge people to go to the doctor asap. That's what I tell my friend too, when she asks me what to do, I copy paste or send her a link to a relevant article and then tell her to schedule an appointment with a doctor

I have NEVER taken any advice of ANY kind seriously on gag apart some from knowledgeable musically minded folk about music related topics.

This is one of the worst places you can seek advice about relationships, dating or sex. The majority of people on here are clueless about those topics.

i am the reason that you now see the statement above your responses to questions here. it's been a while but it wasn't always so. i remember answering a lot of questions to become a master so i've answered all of the topics. and there were some serious questions in all kinds of situations where it would be wise to ask a professional. however, this person needs some help NOW! so, i would help, but i'd always leave a little waiver above my answer. even though i know that a cut needs to be disinfected and covered. maybe a little antibiotic if you have it? anyways, that doesn't make me a doctor of medicine.

but after maybe a couple of weeks of adding this disclaimer, the G@G team added it to questions. i never got any credit.
