I mean, if you are at the gym doing your best at your pace then you are winning the game of life when you have satisfaction in that.
You don’t have to make things ‘competitive’ or ‘challenging’, at least not all the time.
Like, if you are having a bad day and just need to clear your head with a light jog on the track outside then why can’t you have a light walk session on a treadmill in the gym? Exactly, you are free to do so and be content with that.
Don’t let others tell you how to enjoy your gym going experience, you do you.
I would like to add that setting achievable and reasonable goals for oneself is a good idea to know how much progress you’ve been making. Self improvement and building the best version of yourself physically is a good thing to work towards achieving also allows for you to be proud of your self growth which is a positive. All positive.
I don’t agree. If you’re trying to gain strength or mass, yes you have to push yourself.
But some of us have reached our goals. I did years ago. So I’m just maintaining my body weight and strength and muscle mass at this point. It’s easy and doesn’t take a lot of time. I actually stopped working my legs for a while because I wanted to lose some bulk. Pants fit much better now.
Ask yourself why you’re constantly pushing for more. Is there any end game? Are you a pro body builder? What are you gonna do with more bulk?
Guess I've been wasting my time then 🤷🏻♀️ lol. No, I don't think I'm wasting my time. 😅 Also, I feel that even if you go to a gym, constantly pushing your body to its limit is not exactly a good thing. As some got seriously injured after challenging their ability to lift more weight.
I mostly agree. This is because you either try to build muscle, get fit, lose weight, or train for something. Just staying somewhat fit may be a reason for some, but that is probably easier to achieve elsewhere and in a more enjoyable way, such as a sport you like to play.

you don't have to challenge yourself to see the effect... not everyone likes pushing hard their limits, some people prefer a more gentle way... the consistency is key
I mostly agree, either with developing muscle, reducing fat, developing fitness skills, you need to push yourself gradually. Yet there are cases of which people don't want or need to push themselves so, for example elderly who want to maintain some movements but of course can't challenge themselves to failure in sets. Or a person after an injury who wants to develop some sorts of mobility/strengthening without overloads due to the injury.
I marked: 'disagree'.
I'd rather say that ''gym'' in general is a waste of time.
Nature gives lots of opportunity to become or to stay fit,
without instrumentalizing or consumerizing the maintenance of my body.
Doing something is better than doing nothing. Some people go to the gym just to move their bodies instead of seating in front of the TV all day.
Agree, the human body adapts to stress and you need to keep increasing the level of stress to get the same effect. Or put another way, No Pain, No Gain.
Not necessarily, people have different fitness goals.
I like to challenge myself. Its always more fun. 😁
It's unhealthy.
It's a great life outlook, but not for the gym.
A gym should be progressive improvements and mixing up a different routines each day to allow for recovery.
No because working out at the gym can be for other reasons like mental health or it just being a fun activity. Doesn't gotta be challenging
You won’t enjoy working out with me 😆 it’ll be one and done for you
Sometimes I'll do fun workouts. I'm not always looking to challenge myself. Somedays I feel like shit , so I will watch a show and do an easy workout on any of the cardio machines
KI definitely agree, if there is no pain, there is no success. I only do arm exercises for 12 minutes with the heaviest weight I can do and I got the result. Working hard is not important, working correctly is important.
I don't think that applies to everyone at all. Even a little exercise is better than none. It depends on what you're trying to achieve.
Totally agree.. I guess it also depends on your level and goals as well..
I think as long as you are there with a goal in mind it's not wasted time whether it's challenging yourself, losing weight, getting stronger, healthier, looking better etc.
Life isn't some stupid fitness contest. As long as you keep moving, you're doing alright
Agree do hot yoga 5 days a day run 6 walk 1 day.
People have different goals. Sometimes you're just wanting to maintain what you have and have a balanced healthy life.
Maintenance is not wasting time.
No, it's not a waste of time in my opinion.
Totally true
