Would you take a psychological test in order to get a job?

Have you taken the Predictive Index? What are your thoughts on it?

Companies are using this to evaluate you on certain characteristics that you have versus what's required. The test then classifies you as one of the 17 profiles with a summary of how the person would act in the role they are applying for.

Unfortunately, I can't link you to take the test. But how do you feel about taking a psychological examination to get hired for a job?

If it helps the workplace ID personalities that might work better for them, I'm all for it. Might rule me out on ONE level. But hopefully they also you in-person interviews and weigh people on more than one factor.

I'm not sure you could land a 6 figure job today without a psychological test.

I think if you use a professional test and someone who is trained explains the results, it could be very helpful. However, you would need an effective test (like the MMPI or Millon) and a Psychologist to score and interpret it. The MMPI and Millon are restricted tests that only qualified professionals have access to; the scoring is complicated, and the interpretation is not straightforward or obvious to untrained people.

All of this is very expensive, and not many companies would want to invest the money it would cost.

That example result you posted seems just like boilerplate - and a whitewash at that. I would like to see the test questions. Also, ask the test puiblisher what the test-retest reliability and validity of that test are.

I think it is mainly concerned with making money for the people who are selling it, based on the really heavy advertising at that link. To find out anything more about it I would need to buy it, which I won't do.

However, tests like this are usually pretty worthless.

Because it is fairly easy to sucker employers into buying junk like this if they do not know what they are doing, which is usually the case.
