Why do my ears click internally only when I consciously swallow?

Ears click when swallowing because the Eustachian tubes—the narrow passages connecting the middle ear to the throat—briefly open. This movement allows air to flow into the middle ear, equalizing air pressure on both sides of the eardrum. Occasional clicking is normal and harmless.
However, frequent, loud, or uncomfortable clicking can indicate a specific underlying cause.
1. Eustachian Tube Dysfunction (ETD)
2. Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Disorders
3. Middle ear fluid trapped behind the eardrum
4. Earwax Buildup
If you believe you have any of those symptoms, I would recommend you check with your ear doctor (ENT) about the possible causes.

you have air or water in your ear and swallowing changes the air pressure in your ear and makes a sound like a click.
