Do you use GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic or Trulicity, and how are the results?

These injectable drugs are generally used to control diabetes or for weight loss and they are remarkably effective. Some brand names are ozempic and trulicity. If you use them, what do you think about the results? The biggest downside to these drugs at this time is the cost.

I use 1mg Ozempic once a week and have for a year or so now. It slows your digestion a LOT, i did a 4 hr gastric emptying test and it was 27% over 4 hr. as opposed to the norm of someything like 97%. I initially lost in the vicinity of 40 lbs but have gained back about 15 of those. My A1C as tested after the 1st three months was at 5.5. It has risen back into the mid 6 range. The benefits are apparent in those results, however, the slowed gastric emptying can be a challenge to deal with. A person really needs to refine their diet to get the maximum amount of nutrition, especially protein it would seem, out of the smaller amount you'll be able to put in. I've had some problems with acid reflux (GERD) because of this as well so am now taking pantoprazole twice a day for that. I am being subsidized by Novo Nordisk for the cost. It would be too expensive otherwise. So... overall I'd say it's a positive, but the negatives that exist aren't nothing. I continue to take it, and that says something.

Thank you for posting about your experience with Ozempic. Sorry to hear of the gastric issues you are having, but your A1c numbers are very encouraging. I've been using Trulicity for 3 mg weekly for about four or five years now with great results. My A1C is presently 5.0. And I am fortunate enough to not have any side effects whatsoever other than the cost.

5.5 is still too high for A1C. You probably need to be on Jardiance or something else if you aren't already on it. My A1C was 12 before I started Jardiance, and now it's below 3. If your A1C is above about 7, you get worsening Diabetic Nerve Pain, and I ought ot know, because I spent really 16 years in severe pain from before anyone diagnosed me correctly as T2 diabetic... and another several years before they put me on the right combination of medications to stop it.

@SeekerOfTruth007 yeah, my feet are rusty because things went uncontrolled for awhile before I got the diagnosis, and the medication situation continues to evolve. so I do have some neuropathy. Meanwhile I'm gonna have to be more aggressive with my dietary intake. The fact that my A1C went up after two consecutive lower readings tells me I need to stop being lazy and correct some bad habits.

I would try the tablet if it is inexpensive

My wife does ozempic and it worked

But seems to have leveled off but she has to keep taking it or will put weight back on

But now she goes to the gym so that's something new

I have not. I've had decent success by simply tracking my food. I carry a little food scale with me. I know a lot of people really struggle with that though.

My body doesn't respond well to meat. So, my next change will be to phase out meat and go vegetarian.

Hell no, I’m not going to depend on that shit and then get fat again when I stop taking it. I don’t fuck with my body’s balance. Any time you supplement something your body mashes there’s going to be a deficiency when you stop taking it because your body will cease to produce as much. If there’s already a deficiency then that’s different

With diabetes, there is already a malfunction , so correcting that malfunction to the extent that you can with a GLP-1 drug is a good idea. My A1C at 5.0 speaks for itself.

These drugs do nothing to fix Diabetes which is generally a high Insulin resistance they only mask the problem. They are ways to lower your insulin resistance which does not include not eating carbs or sugars.

There is no such thing as masking the problem as you put it. Glp1 drugs increase insulin secretion from the pancreas and decrease gastric emptying time, thus reducing appetite. That is far from masking the problem.

It does nothing to correct insulin resistance which is the underlying cause of type 2 diabetes.

With the proper amount of insulin, insulin resistance ceases to be a factor.

Whatever you say boss whether you're right or wrong but I know persons that have reversed diabetes type 2 and gotten off these drugs using other methods.

You cannot reverse type 2 diabetes unless you literally restore your pancreas, which, unfortunately, is not possible.

I'm allergic to Ozempic and Wegovy. I've asked doctors to put me on other GLP-1s and they never write the prescription, they just ignore me.

how do you know you are allergic to those drugs? Have you tried them? What happened when you did?

Uncontrollable vomiting and other problems making it not worth it to take the medication. I don't want to be vomiting all the time, and if that's how people are losing weight, it's clearly not worth it.

I haven't used Ozempic but I know someone who did and they lost like half their body weight.

Yes, it's a pretty effective weight loss drug. Probably the person who lost all that weight should have had a lower dose.
