Well discomfort in the body is pretty key to a lot of emotion. Feeling hungry, pain, hot, cold. There's emotional reactions to thoughts separate from the body. Like sadness, joy. But the body has a strong influence still like how if your hungry, tired and/or hot and someone says something unkind it can give you a stronger emotion of anger or grief or self consciousness than if your happy with your body and it's state.
So the body influences emotions. But do emotions influence the body? I guess comfort eating is an example where you feel "hungry" without actually needing food. You feel fat and ugly on a low day but pretty alright or sexy on a good day despite physically no change in your weight or shape.
The body gives life a shape. But emotions give it the flavour and texture.
To experience a mind body connection means to acquire balance because you're cultivating a kind of inner awareness where mind and body consciously connect so that means you have high hopes of controlling your emotions.

Your body is last leg of that connection to the best of my understanding. Your emotions are affected almost entirely by your mental state, a claim most people disbelief but I'll die on that hill. The two together then affect your physical well-being, or lack thereof. So if you ask me about your emotions, I'm going to ask you about your mental state, not how you're doing physically.
@Nikki1989 My Yoga classes and instructors help me address the mind/body connection, and it has been some help in my dealing with happenings.
@Nikki1989 you better explain that to me because I’m clueless
I have to be honest with you. This one is over my head. How exactly does that work
