Are some types of mental illness just forms of demonic possession?

Some people believe that Lindsay Clancy, who murdered her three children, was under the influence of a demon when she did this. What do you think? If she was under the influence of a demon and no longer is, should she be punished for the actions of someone or something other than herself?

Not likely, and even if it’s true then it would be completely idiotic to accept it as a legal defense. It entirely relieves a person of accountability. “Oh, i was just possessed by a demon for a minute, and now i’m not. So i should be allowed to go free with absolutely no negative consequences. It’s bad enough that we let women use a dozen different affirmative defenses that men can’t even use. There is NO excuse for the cold blooded murder of children. Anything is possible as demons do not announce themselves to the one possessed. But you are not are likely to get possessed unless you dabble in the occult or use things like an ouija board or practice witchcraft. Also, a Christian can never be possessed as a demon and the Holy Spirit cannot occupy the same body.

If you think it’s fine to open door to openly speculate as to whether or not this woman was possessed by a demon, then I don’t see how me saying ‘I’m starting to think he may have had some sort of involvement’ wouldn’t also be a plausible discussion.
