I want ice cream but I'm on a diet?

I'm trying to lose weight but I really want ice cream:( I'm 16 5'11 and 148 pounds. Will it be OK if I had some?

It all depends. How much are you working out a day? How much are you eating a day? How often are you eating a day?

A lot of my friends have a "cheat day" but I don't really like that. If you save it all for one day you're going to over indulge and set yourself way back. Look at the calories of one of those single serving Ben and Jerry ice cream things (not the pints, they have tiny single serving ones, too). As a general rule I try to keep under 1,500 calories a day and take in a few calories from fat as possible. I also try and eat five times a day, 300 calories per meal. This keeps my metabolism going so that when I do splurge a bit it can pick up the slack.

However I'm also jogging at least 15-30 minutes each day and running through the Insanity work out program so I can afford to have some high calorie things now and again.

if I were you I'd keep it in moderation, or, even better, don't cave at all. If you can make it past two week-ish then your cravings should die down a whole bunch and eating only what your diet allows for will be a lot easier. Basically you have to stop enjoying eating. That's the only way diets work long term, if you just give up the fun you get from eating, hahaha.

I think the key to dieting is to allow some sort of "cheating" once in a while and with moderation. The more you deprive yourself, the more likely you'll end up going crazy indulging.

I good compromise would be to try one of the weight watchers ice creams that is calorie controlled for dieters. You just need something to feed the craving but nothing too heavy that will ruin your diet.

You can find substitutes like frozen yogurt or sherbert. But try to hold off. Have a goal of loosing 10 pounds by a certain time and then after you loose that amount reward yourself with frozen yogurt (still choose something semi healthy!). It'll taste so much better as a reward. Don't give up!

Step one in losing weight is gving up things like ice cream. Don't have any until you've lost a few pounds, so it become more of a creward for your good behavior.

Why are you on a diet?!? You are a perfect weight! Don't hurt yourself, and have some ice cream if you want. Well, I guess it depends. I can't, have to stay away from the stuff for ballet. I have to fit my costumes! lol XD But seriously, eat what you want. You're good.

Don't completely deny yourself or you'll end up breaking and binging. If you feel too guilty though there's a lot of diet ice cream out there that doesn't taste bad and will satisfy your craving

It's okay to treat yourself every once in a while.

Have sorbet or a frozen yoghurt! lighter options, lower in fat and generally tastier too!
