What do you think of Usain Bolt calling himself a 'living legend'?

You guys know who he is right? Men's 100m and 200m gold medalist this year. Won the gold in Beijing too, shattered the world record.

He's not a legend, just really impressive. Personally I think it has a lot to do with genetics. Everyone has flaws, health problems, genetic defects, things no one ever knows about. You could have two runners that are the same but if one has some unknown genetic problem, then that one is just at a default weaker level. I believe it goes the other way also. It's not to be racist, but it's obvious that black people have superior genes when it comes to athletics. Look at the percentage of athletes that are black compared to other ethnicity's. Their are more and they are usually better. When it comes to the best sprinters in the world, they are almost always black. Why because, whites, Latinos or Asians didn't train hard enough or put in the hours? No it's just because they are physically superior. I think Usain Bolt can only pass his competition because he's taller giving him a longer stride. If two sprinters are at the exact same level but one has longer legs, than that one is usually going to win. But he could also have other unseen genetic advantages. But this is not to say I don't recognize his accomplishments or put down any ethnicity. I just think you can't really compare people to each other. Were not all even.

I hate cocky people. But he really is the fastest man in the world, and you have to give that to him. So let him be cocky, let him be glorious, let him be...a living legend. Lets just enjoy it while he is still here. Sometime in the future I am sure his records will be broken and it will all start over again.

well...he sorta is. he's not bragging, he's just stating a fact. Sure, its definitely one of those, "don't hate me because I'm beautiful moments," but he kinda has the right to say that. and that ticks off some folks, particularly those who like false humility. I don't mind people saying, "I'm the best" if they are. Kudos! If you're good looking, bravo! if you're successful, congrats!

Oh yeah I watched him from day one qualifying and everything...I automatically didn't like him he was SO cocky. Then as time progressed to semi finals and Finals I just disliked him even more, you need to show some sportsmanship and he didn't. He is full of himself. Be proud and confident not arrogant and cocky.

Nah I think he's justified. Otherwise instead when he's asked about being the fastest runner in the world he would have to turn around and say ' oh no, it''s not big deal'. That's taking modesty to a whole new unrealistic level. He's the best in the world, and he and we know he didn't even have to work as hard as everyone else to get there. I'd sure as hell be at least a bit cocky about it.

in a way,he's right. just cause he didn't do anything that really matters to me, doesn't mean he isn't a legend,in the world of racing-yes,you could safely call him a legend,and it benefits him to have confidence and arrogance,it's useful since he's a competitive athlete.

I think its fine, he's the worlds fastest runner. He literally smokes the competition. Its okay for him to brag, he's better than pretty much everyone else on the planet. As long as he doesn't start going on about it all the time I think he'll be okay.

Just because he is taller doesn't mean he runs faster, it actually means he has that much more to propel when running.

Someone that tall shouldn't be able to run that fast, he can just take longer steps.

I said "I WILL agree with him...", and in my opinion if he wants me to agree with his brain that he is a legend he needs to do something pretty spectacular that will make people remember his name in 500 years from now.

The only thing he's done so far is run a few tenths of a second faster than some other fast people for a short distance. It's cool for him, but it's not something I really give a sh*t about in my life.

He is not going to find a gold smelter and divvy that thing up and pass out little gold nuggets around the villages in his nation, he is going to put it in a frame on his wall.

Ah, but he is representing his country, is he not? When or if your HS team won something big(e.g. a state title) in any sport, did most of the students say we won or he or they won? The school as whole would say "we won", because the team or the person is representing them.
