Which defensive position(s) is/are your favorite(s) in football?

And here I'm referring to American football only and I'm not talking about offensive positions.

I voted for "D" (cornerback).

I almost voted "E" (safety) because me being the brainy cerebral person I am, the safety has to make more reads on the field based on what he sees and make a decision on how to maneuver on that play. Being a Troy Polamalu and roaming around the field laying hits and defending passes is awesome!

BUT...I voted "D" because I think it'd be so dope to be a top-tier cover corner in the NFL. You literally get to go one-on-one against the most important offensive weapons in the game.

Imagine the satisfaction of going mano-e-mano against dudes such as Calvin "Megatron" Larry Fitzgerald, Brandon Marshall, DeSean Jackson (shout-out to my Eagles), Greg Jennings, Andre Johnson, Randy Moss...and shutting them down.

Imagine the feeling that Darelle "Island" Revis, Carlos Rodgers, Charles Woodson (before he got moved to safety), Asante Samuel, Champ Bailey, Cortland Finnegan...get when they get up in a WR's head and take him out the game.

Now THAT must be an ego-stroke! 8-)

Safety for sure. I love the idea of sitting back, watching the play unfold, and then appearing out of nowhere to make the interception or tackle. It's usually the safeties who get to make the big hits on defenseless receivers, while the corners mostly just try to stop them make the catch in the first place - or if they're good enough, the ball never even comes their way. Plus you still get to blitz and put the QB in the dirt occasionally. It's also the most demanding, as you need the intelligence to read the play, the speed to get across to cover receivers, and the strength to bring down running backs. The other positions are all a little one-dimensional by comparison.

Troy Polamalu and Ed Reed are just legends :)

My favorite position is Linebacker, mainly because they do everything that other positions don't. They do man coverage, they do zone coverage and the blist. Yes all positions do this too, but linebackers are the ones that do a combination of all of these more often than the rest.
