OMG YES! Always! There is a phenomenal book called “The Gift of Fear” by Gavin Becker. My brother bought me a copy as a gift when I first headed off to college at 16. (I’ll leave a link to it on Amazon at the bottom) It has some amazing advice for everyone, not just women, and not just about surviving horrible situations, but avoiding them to begin with. Things like if someone pulls up as you are walking down the street, points a gun at you, and orders you to get in the car or he’ll shoot you what do you do? The answer is run! If you run the chances are overwhelming that he will NOT fire the gun, because there will likely be witnesses, as noise tend to make people look! However if he does for the gun, the chances are high that he’ll miss you, and IF (god forbid) he does hit you, the chances are very high that you’ll survive the gun shot wound! However, if you get into the car, there is a near 100% likelihood that you will be killed after he rapes you!
Seriously, I highly recommend it to everyone. It teaches situational awareness, and the importance of basic self defense techniques, and so much more.
The book is available for as little as $6 in digital format. The write-up includes this:
"True fear is a gift.
Unwarranted fear is a curse.
Learn how to tell the difference.
A date won't take "no" for an answer. The new nanny gives a mother an uneasy feeling. A stranger in a deserted parking lot offers unsolicited help. The threat of violence surrounds us every day. But we can protect ourselves, by learning to trust—and act on—our gut instincts.”

I really, and sincerely hope someone gets this book and it helps them. It’s already helped me!
(No, I have no connection to the author, and I get NOTHING for recommending it)

I am a FIRM BELIEVER in gut instinct and first impressions. "vibes" are real and should be trusted! Especially so for dogs. THEY KNOW whose a threat!!
@DrPepper12 I agree! People need to listen to their fear when in situations that could get them in trouble. It really is a great book, and I highly recommend it.
TY!!
@DrPepper12 YW sweetie 😘
@Still-alive Thank you so much for this MHO. I truly appreciate it. You are such a good man, and I’m honored to think of you as a dear friend.

OMG, all the time! I also make a mental note of "suspicious" people. Their height, build, clothes they're wearing, eye color... I know it's weird but some day, I might help capture a violent criminal.
I'm the white guy wearing a video game t shirt and pants. you're welcome :P
lol. I can see you're not an experienced criminal. Never wear distinguishable clothing when committing a crime! It's too easy for witnesses to remember.
There's a lot of research on just how undependable eye witness testimony really is. Ten different people could see the exact same crime and all 10 "remember" it differently.

Seeing i've gotten lost sometimes at malls because my car is white and this is a big mall... you bet your $5 i do.
I drop a trail of bread crumbs and hope there are no pidgins around! lol
I don’t. I just go until I need google maps. If they don’t work, google translate so I can ask around.
I am always on yellow, unless I am asleep. Even then, I think sometimes I am on yellow.
It's usually code orange. I am reserved so time spent not talking is spent observing. Looking for ways to escape the crowd and be at peace :(
Yeah I usually do that looking for a potential exit or something interesting
I always take notice of my surroundings no matter where I am.
