I think meteorites and volcanic rocks look really cool. What about you?
I don’t mean gemstones, just rocks in particular.

I love all kinds of rocks.
My man-cave has different types of rocks thoughtfully displayed, as well as being placed haphazardly, virtually all over the place.
I'd love to have a meteorite, but the fact that buying one means that it wasn't found by myself, and also that the prices for them have risen greatly in recent years, have stopped me from purchasing one.
My favorite type of rocks?
That's a tough question for a lover of geology.
Quartz geodes, maybe.
I've included a pic of one that I possess that is about the size of a gorilla's head that looks something like a fossilized brain, depending on one's perspective.

My mom, rest her soul, found it many years ago.
Great question!
I like limestone. To think that, millions of years ago, that rock, deep in the ground now, was at the bottom of the ocean.

Plymouth Rock
@exitseven I'm sure you know that's not where the Mayflower landed, but it's a good story... for tourists.
@AviatorTom Then who carved "1620" into that rock?
The town of Plymouth did in 1880. Read all about it here...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plymouth_Rock
@AviatorTom If you look at the top edge you can see "Myles Standish was here" carved into it in cursive. How do you explain that?
@exitseven Having fun again, aren't we?
The only point I'm trying to make is that the physical rock has been moved several times. The actual landing point of the Mayflower has been determined to be farther south from where the rock is today, but that's not a good tourist spot, so they put the rock in a nice place for tourists.
@AviatorTom Yes, supposedly they landed on Cape Cod someplace. I think they moved to Plymouth because the traffic during the summer was too crazy.
@exitseven Can't agree more. My son lives on Cape Cod. Those two rickety old bridges over the Cape Cod Canal, the only way to get on and off the Cape Cod island, can take forever to get across, not just in summer, pretty much year-round.
@AviatorTom Those bridges should have been replaced years ago. maybe if one of them falls down.
My favorite rock if its a gift, whether it's from their garden or the Indian Jungle, it is the thought that counts.
Sometimes Led Zeppelin, sometimes Nirvana, sometimes others, really naming one favorite at this point is impossible and unfaithful !
It is between Prog and Melodic Metal. Oh, you mean that other kind of rock? Probably granite.
Well you said both actually, just reminds me of a guy I saw up a mountain was convinced he found a huge meteorite and I was like naa that is not even magnetic but he spent months getting it down the mountain and is was just interesting basalt rock 😂
This
I was all set to say Progressive Rock, until I found out what type of "rock" you meant
Interesting! I’ll have to reflect on that… Maybe volcanic?
Basalt rock is cool, which is igneous or volcanic rock so I suppose I agree.
@Kayla45 Crystal
I'm gonna say quartzite.

I like flint cause it makes sparks
Obsidian

Classic Rock if that counts.
I like quartz myself...
