Have you ever played chess? Do you think it's one of the better board games out there?

I have. The chief problem with chess is how often it descends into pattern memorization, even at lower levels. In general, I prefer something less deterministic, like Tigris and Euphrates, or more complex, like Twilight Imperium.

I tend to agree. You learn certain defenses and then after a while, it kind of lacks originality.

Fischerrandom seems like it'd be a good alternative, but I've yet to meet anyone who actually wants to play it.

Chess is fun but there are other great games out there, monopoly, sorry, risk. I honestly really like sorry if there are more than 2 players it gets hectic.

I remember Sorry as a kid. It typically ended with someone flipping the board in anger, lol

I played it a little in college. I don't even remember the rules.
