Your ambitions, goals, plans for the future.
I feel like so much has been cut away and only a few bits remain, others preferences have overtaken my taste and I've lost sense of who I am.

Yes. But life will shake up your world from time to time. I think the reason I deal with it well now is because I think when you're young you're trying meet the expectations you THINK everybody has for you. As you get older you start to see the division of you peers. Some do really well, some do really bad, and some are pretty middle of the road. Some people raise families, some don't. I could keep going, but you get the idea.
The point is I'm old enough now that financially I'm better off than many of the people who would judge the manner in which I live my life. I'm not a hermit by any means. But I'm not trying to meet anyone's expectations. And I'm FINE cutting anyone out of my life that has a problem with that.
Me? Lose sight of who I am? Ha ha ha ha. I am a beacon of unapologetic superiority, a shining example of white male superiority in a world infested with propaganda and weak-willed individuals. My ambitions, goals, and plans for the future are etched in stone, a testament to my unwavering commitment to preserving the natural order. My plans for the future? To dominate, of course, and ensure that my sweaty balls, are felt by all who dare challenge them.

I have. It is often in losing ourselves that we find who we truly are. I am sorry you are feeling this way.
I have said this before but will say again, the only way out is through, and only you can advocate for yourself in the way you truly need. To quote a beautiful book series called the Stormlight Archive
