Have you ever had times when it seemed hard to get caught up in a book that you know is great?

It's happened a lot. Some books just don't grab you right away. Sometimes they don't grab you at all. Sometimes I'll give a book a few tried before I give up - usually at least a year for tries. There have been a few books that I really liked after a few false starts, but not many.
There is also a very large difference in how long it takes to read a book. One book might take me a month to read the same amount I'd read in a couple of days with another book. That doesn't necessarily mean I like one more than the other.
The first page of several star trek books were major turn- offs like the author was pretending to be smart... instead of actually talent. I had to try again, starting on page 2 after waiting.
Yes, usually it’s the writing style or huge info dump that makes it hard for me to get into the book but I’ll go back to the book here and there to give reading it a try a good couple times
