My family's first video console was an Atari 2600, purchased at Sears. My parents gave it to my older sister and me as a Christmas present.
When my sister moved out on her own (she's 8 years older then me), I kept the system, and played it often. Over time, I acquired virtually every game cartridge that existed. When my sister had kids, I gave her the system for them to play with. Then, when her kids got older and no longer played it, she just threw it out. She never thought of giving it back to her brother. 😒

A colecovision that my grandfather gave us and then the atari came next. The first console my parents actually bought for us was a nes.

Nintendo 64. Still the only system I have with the same few games I always had. I've thought once or twice about getting an Xbox so that I could play Halo, but I won't waste the money. Plus I have other things I want to do anyway.
