In extensive designs and redesign failures I discovered "ranged attacks" simply do not work out fairly in a turn-based game. I also discovered having damage determined by random dice rolls is actually more FAIR than I previously thought.
I am keeping the game much more simple now.
Workers cost 75 Gold, have 1HP, Move 2, and only do damage on a roll of 1.
Commandos (infantry) cost 50 Gold, have 1 HP, Move 3, and do damage on a roll of 2 or less.
Tanks cost 100 gold and 50 Oil, have 2 HP, Move 4, and do damage on a roll of 3 or less.
Fighters (aircraft) cost 100 gold and 100 oil, have 2 HP, Move 6, and do damage on a roll of 4 or less.
You start with 12 worker and there are Gold Mine in your main base and Oil deposits. You have to train works each turn while building up an economy and expanding to new bases. Only 12 workers may mine from a Gold Mine at once, and only 5 workers may mine from an Oil Platform.
I've finally made sense of a 2 resource system for a turn-based strategy game.
YES, I was being far too complicated in the past.
Thanks for past critique and constructive criticisms.
