What is your favorite springtime flower?

The first flowers that bloom in my yard are rosemary, then lilac and redbud.

We have a very large, sprawling rosemary bush. It is the first to bloom. In the late winter/early spring, it turns purple, completely covered with tiny flowers. The pollinators love it.

Next comes the lilac bush. Ours is old and looks like a tree with a gnarled trunk and perfectly shaped crown. In early spring it blossoms and is covered with large clusters of light-pink flowers. They smell wonderful but don't last long.

On the redbud tree, tiny buds start popping out all along the branches. When they blossom, the branches are covered with small, dark-pink flowers. Green leaves don't come out until the flowers are gone.

We have irises that start blooming early, too.

One of my favorite roads to drive on has them all over and if you go at the right time, it lasts maybe one week a year where the pedals blow in the wind but they're still bright and healthy. It feels like you're in a samurai movie.
