What does "crotched the beam" mean?

Checking through encyclopedias, manuals and the internet, I am unable to find the meaning of your expression.

Is this beam in reference of a roof beam or anything else? I understand that it may be in reference to some gymnastics exercises but that is still a mystery to me.

Do you mean fall imon a beam and hit your crotch? I did something similar although not on a balance beam it hurt me because I fell but I was still able to get off rather than fall and roll around like a guy would
