EDM festivals: do you go for the music, the vibe, or both?

I’ve been getting more into EDM lately and went to a show recently, and I honestly can’t tell if people go mainly for the music or just the whole atmosphere. Like the lights, crowd, outfits, energy—it’s all kinda addictive lol.

I enjoy the music, but sometimes I feel like the vibe is what really makes it fun. Do you guys go mainly for the DJs/music, or is it more about the experience as a whole?

Hmm, I had to check what that EDM festival was all about and upon seeing what it is, my decision is a definite "NO". I am not going to a place like that where tens of thousands of people practically step on each other and where you need to wear ear plugs in order for your eardrums not to explode from the high decibel noise.

That can't be healthy for you and that is not music to me, that is nothing more than "boom boom boom" noise and cacophony. Furthermore, you have absolutely no privacy and people probably do drugs on those festivals.

No thank you, I gladly leave my place to someone that can "enjoy" that type of noise.

It is a culture and a movement, but it is definitely not a genre of music. Can you perform it acoustically? Can you transcribe it on a tablature pad without taking out the electronic element of the final product? No.

@Nikki1989 With all due respect EDM is totally music, and Rollins isn't even talking about EDM, he's talking about sampling other people's music. You want everything to be acoustic now? Why? Your prog rock would sound shitty without electronic keyboards.

Never gone to an EDM festival. If I were to go it would definitely be with someone im close to mainly for the vibe, but a little for the music as well.
