What is the biggest fish you have ever caught and how big was it?

I honestly don't know. I kinda stopped fishing with my dad because I suck at it. I'd always get frustrated watching him catch them and me not.

He has a fishing boat he keeps at our home in FL and has caught some big ones. Lake fish at our home in the north are not terribly big. Perch is a popular one and they are small fish.

I used to from time to time when I was younger. Just another activity to do with dad, but I stopped. Just not good at it. Some people have the touch and I am not one.

I did/do hunt with him and pretty good at that. I haven't in a couple of years because deer season is when I am in school.

There is bow season and gun season. I only did rifle season. Bow is popular where I live tho.

@Sunrising I have caught fish. Just nothing interesting. On the lake, we catch perch, which are small fish. They are tasty but not exactly sporting to get.

Steelhead are hard to catch. I have never got one. My dad is good at that one.

At our home in Florida, I prefer to be in the water with the fish than trying to catch them.

A 1lb perch was the first fish I ever caught.

We used some very expensive technical equipment to catch the fish, but we put the fish back afterwards 🤣

We found some fishing line on the banking, tied it all together with a hook and sinkers attached.

I think we fastened this to a stick, and put a worm on the end.

A few minutes later my friend was amazed we caught a fish!

@Sunrising nooooo, you don’t throw them back! You cook at eat them! Perch are so yummy. You can get them all over the city at restaurants since we are right on the lake. There is a 30 fish per day limit for individuals but the commercial boats get loads of them.

That’s why you see lots of small boats chasing the commercial boats. They have expensive equipment to locate the perch packs and the amateurs just follow them.

My friend was the fisherman when I was ten or 11 years old, but we never really caught anything much except colds.

Then one day I went fishing by myself,

and I caught an enormous fish, I'm sure it must have been just like the one in the photo, unfortunately I only had 2lb line and it got away.

Perhaps I was going to the wrong places to catch fish when I was younger, now I catch enough fish, for a number of meals every time I go fishing.

Better still the fish come already battered or with breadcrumbs 🤣

In the photo is the world's largest fish, a 40 foot Whale Shark, though this one had been found dead in the Arabian Sea.

I must have caught unlimited amount of very little fishes when I was a little boy.

It's sad really, because now when I let them go they die within minutes.

Perhaps I wasn't the person to catch the fishes if I couldn't look after them, but now I need to find someone to look after at least one or two of them, though I'm sure I would be capable to share the responsibilities with this person 🙂

That fish is impressive.

Many years ago, I went out on a fishing boat from Ft Lauderdale Florida. I was one of the few people on the boat that caught anything. I don't remember what kind of fish it was, but it was about 18 inches (46 cm) long.

On 11 August 1974, when I was 11 years old, I caught a sand shark that was about 4 feet long. I think we were fishing in the Atlantic Ocean, but it might just have been the Great South Bay.
