What do you collect?

Mine might sound strange at first glance, but there is actually a useful reason behind it. I collect children's books. I have saved all the ones from my childhood. I will happily take donations from my friends. If I find some used in good condition I will buy them.

The reason is pretty simple. I am in school for a degree in early education. I want to teach the K-4 age group. Schools only have so many resources to go around. I will havbe to supplement my classroom and this is a good start.

I have a lot of chinooks in my classroom library. I wish I can donate them to you.
Each year we throw out bins and bins of books it’s so sad…
I sent them back to my kindergarten, first grade kids… the parents said no more books
I heard this year, our school budget is not good and not going to have much money.

Throughout my teaching career, we switched curriculums… the whole school had to throw out all the new books when we made the switch. It was so painful… i took those boxes home and stored them in my garage. I gave them out to kids in the neighborhood, slowly and now they are all gone. That was 15 years ago.

I have heard other school districts don’t have the budget the way we used to.
You are smart to start building your library. You never know. Books are a treasure!! ❤️

@midnightmoon05 that is so sad! I would cry having to throw out books. I actually have collected quite a few. For two years now, I have gone scouring garage sales for gently used children's books. That is where I have had the most luck.

my friends know me well… because during my divorce… I didn’t take anything just a few boxes of clothes.

I always smile when I think about my “collections” because they’re super nerdy and cozy 🎮✨
I collect game memories more than objects: screenshots from epic boss fights, cute photo mode shots, and funny glitches. I save them in folders by game and year. I also hoard gaming pins from conventions and limited-edition in-game items. Every screenshot or pin reminds me of a cool moment with my boyfriend or friends, like a little gaming scrapbook ❤️
