I have not, but my older brother did. It helped that we have a pile of coal out back, that is sometimes used to help keep things warm, rather than wood.
It wasn't his only present, it was a small chunk with a hole drilled through and a string.
It was more like a warning, you'd better shape up.
Lol damn
yes your first visitor in the new year should bring you something to keep you warm food and a drink this is to help you in the new year. the first new year we were together we got 24 tins of beans a big bag of big bag of wood and a gallon of sider my mates mum got it all for us she was lovely have not seen her in over 50 years
In my own culture the equivalent to coal would be a twig - symbolizing a spanking cane.
Aged 6 or so I once got one. I broke it into pieces. But Grandma insisted that I repair it :(
Still - half a century later - I remember it. I fear that Grandma was rejected in Heaven.
Omg lmao
Update: this morning (24th) I found that my 2 lovely dogs had been busy at night to tear apart the char coal bag I bought yesterday for making Christmas Eve dinner. So this year I found plenty of coal on the porch :D / Merry Christmas, everyone
My family doesn’t celebrate Christmas, I do now as a adult, but my parents side of the family never did.

We once took our daughters presents off her on the 27th for being a brat.
she got them back at Easter.
we told her that Father Christmas had taken them back because she was naughty,
Even at 14 I reminded her last week lol.
When I was a kid an uncle gave me a wrapped box that contained a piece of coal. I guess my look was priceless because everyone busted out laughing. Then he said to look under the coal and I did. There was a $20 bill underneath which in the mid-60's was a lot of money.
My grandfather worked in a coal mine for many years. He brought a big chunk of coal home for me one Christmas and it blew up in his face. I grabbed my action figures and started using it as a base for them.
Technically I received coal that had been compressed under extream pressure and then placed on the end of a set of drill bits, does that count?
Sure lol
I gave my cousin a box with a bunch of wrapped boxes inside inside eachother then the last one had a lump of coal in it
Lol awesome
Indeed
Yeah, a family friend gave me coal as a joke one time. It's funny and I didn't get upset or offended by it.
I didn't even get the coal , coal is costly now anybody intrested can donate the coal 🤣 but the cost of transportation would be more than the value of coal itself 🤣
I never have. I do remember my father sticking a piece of firewood into my Christmas stocking one year. It was all in fun though.
Yes, I have a uncle thats a dick and thinks he is funny to give coal to small children
no, but one time the cat took a crap all over my presents
I don't even know where I would get coal. Charcoal, sure, but that is not coal.
I gave coal to my parents for Christmas once. Everyone understood that it was a joke.
Yes, When I was very young I received a lump of coal in my stocking.
I used to get a beating from my dad every Christmas. He hated the holidays.
Ahh I'm sorry to hear that.
if that were true, sounds made up, but if it were then she’d be correcting bad parenting with more bad parenting. Kids are never to blame for the parent’s inability to parent.
You're so fucking weird lmao. Go somewhere.
shit sounds made up dude. suck a dick I don't know.
One year we all got novelty bags of coal, I'm pretty sure from Knott's or, if not, from Disneyland.
Damn! That's coaled.
Lol cute
Lol. Thank you.
Better coal than Covid.
