What is offensive is that religion, like clan structures, cohesive communities, and even the nuclear family, is a potential power center that could rival the secular state. So the forces that control the apparatus of the state naturally use their power to attack religion and traditional family structures while seeking to keep the most educated and capable people too mobile and busy to sink deep roots into a community. The secular state at first makes people feel free because it eliminates the social control exerted by alternate power centers like aristocracy and religion. However, in short order an elite always comes to dominate the secular state and, with other nodes of resistance neutered or eliminated, the people find themselves dispossessed and beholden to the state.
Most people actually are
Thanks for MHO :)
I've seen this a few times with nativity scenes & school plays. Someone takes offence. I remember a story about a Christmas tree being banned.
No idea. It's not even about Christianity. Everyone involved was Jewish

This is just a way for democrats to destroy something that unites Americans. The less we have to hold us together the easier it will be to destroy us from within.
Some people don't study history... and listen to radicals who write their own history.
How many people know that Jesus Christ was a Jew?
I keep hearing this every year... but I never see it myself, lol
watch the series goldbergs they have an episode playing this idea out. i forget which season.
@strateguy632 I can't live in fiction...
I meant actual reality
I don't think there is a war on Christmas, but I do know that 90% of the secular Christmas music, which is all they play in stores now to avoid offending anyone, is really really bad. Give me "O come all ye faithful" over "Simply having a wonderful Christmas time" (blecch) any day.
it is the PURPOSE of generating the idea of offensive. then they can misuse it to target anything even far indirect stuff to silence stuff that differs from the liberal agenda. this was the danger of using such a principle in the first place.
this is the reason the first thing taught in preschool is not to cry when people say mean stuff. time for the whiners to grow up and stop whining.
I don't have anything against Christmas, but the corrupt Church uses it as a leverage against the power and integrity of the State, and that doesn't sit well with me.
Don't get me wrong, I am against our current government, but I foresee that when we will take the helm the Church will be an obstacle we'll have to remove.
Well, when you have a parasite feeding off your body, the reasonable thing is to remove it.
I'm not saying banning the Church.
I just say to tax it properly, revoke their privileges and exemptions and make them stop acting like a State within a State.
Not the churchgoers, but the higher ups.
Tax them like they tax companies. Because at the end of they day they are a business, with their lands, organizations and properties.
@Sun_Kim-Ai You might find my comment about potential nodes of competition with the state. I have a different perspective, namely that it is very bad for the common people to ever be dependent on a state that is unconstrained by any competing nodes of power.
There's no Mexicans or Indians in it!
I'm not the least bit religious but I still set one or two of them up. It's more of a family tradition kinda thing, than a religious thing.
Nobody except reddit atheists actually cares, and you really shouldn't care about their opinions, you just have a persecution fetish, there's different things now, but nobody is stopping you from enjoying things the way you always have.
Stand firm to your belief never waver when your challenged never compromise you ethics morals or integrity and never lower yourself to anyone who try to cut you down or your faith always stand firm ask the Lord for strength ok
I find nothing offensive about a nativity scene. It’s just icons or statutes depicting a biblical event. I have one out on my front lawn myself.
I don’t get it either
There is nothing racist about it at all, it is bitter other religious group and minorities trying to get their own back for things that happened in the past.
I don't do Christmas it's realgious I am too but I don't ever seem to have cash
I also know it's a false date for the Bible says the men we out in the field tending to their flock
what proof is that? sheep need to eat all year and bethlehem has a mild winter in December? i think today is 75 degrees in israel but id did not check.
@strateguy632 you are entirely right. The tempature in bethlehem is 14°c today, sheep even in countries with the coldest winters stay outside. The reason sheperds are out is to scare away predators, rustlers and of course the fact that sheep are the stupidest animals.
The Jewish calender differs from the Gregorian calendar, the Eastern orthodox calender and the Gregorian calendar we all mostly use today. For instance today is the 25th of December in the Jewish calender. The Greek orthodox Church won't celebrate Christmas this year until January 7th. It's to do with solar drift, in the old roman calender the 25th of December was the day of the winter solstice whereas today it's December 21st. Basically they needed a calender that accurately predicted the seasons
Ahhh…nuthin if you keep that bullshit in your churches and outta public properties.
Hitler's henchmen were searching for a different religion, German paganism for instance but Hitler was atheist.
Catholic churches and organisations were shut down in the reich. The Catholic Church saved 80,000 Jews. The nazis fled everywhere they could including the United States, Middle east and Africa.
I dont know
