Why would it be weird? I grew up in the Southern Hemisphere, and have never been north to you people down under our feet, so a warm Christmas is what I automatically expect. If I saw snow on the street I'd know that something was seriously wrong with the climate.
Because every Christmas themed movie you see has snow. And there are songs about snow. It's probably because Christmas originated in Europe, where it was winter. And so many Christmas traditions revolve around cold weather.
I know NZ doesn't get that hot, but for me it would feel weird having Christmas in summer weather. I think it would be cool to experience Christmas in the southern hemisphere.
I don't think I've ever watched a "Christmas-themed" movie in my entire life.
Except "Die Hard" :p
Yes, I was thinking, "Should I list that as a Christmas movie?" :D
I thought we already determined in a previous discussion that it is indeed a Christmas movie. Someone posted a question about that again and people were divided. But in these case I said "Christmas THEMED". "Die Hard" took place during Christmas, but I wouldn't called it "Christmas THEMED," because the plot didn't specifically revolve around Christmas. Those events could've taken place at ANY time, but I still consider it a Christmas movie :D
It's just Australians pretending it's winter in 35 degrees celcius
AND New Zealanders, and Argentinians, and Chileans, and South Africans, and... I could go on. Why do you northerners think that only Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere? Then of course there is the entire continent of Antarctica, which really does have snow all year round.
@Siri137 Yeah and how many people live in Antarctica?
