White Christmases are rare in the UK. The idea comes from Charles Dickens who grew up in a mini iceage and remembered them from his childhood and they stuck in the public consciousness.
We might get some on the mountains but my little corner is usually spared.42 Reply- 1 mo
I'm glad you said mini ice age and stuck in public consciousness. That's the cycle... I miss the snow, last big and significant one was winter ☃️❄️ of 2010-2011 ...

Not where I live in the western Sierra Nevada foothills. We're just below the snow line even when it snows hard a few miles away.
But we can drive 20 minutes up the mountain to town or an hour and a half to Lake Tahoe if we want to play in the snow.11 Reply

Very rare in Southeast US where I live now. Growing up in Northeast US, a White Christmas was very common.
I remember one time we went to my cousin's house on Christmas Day, no snow at all. During the day, it started to snow, and by the time we were ready to leave, there was more than 6 inches (15 cm) of snow on the ground, all the roads were closed, and we spent the night at my cousin's.

It rained last December and the sky was white clouds - it was a perfect white Christmas for me last year 🥳😋🎄🎄👀 I was very grateful and remain grateful to the deities 😃🥳😈 dreams do come true aka my wishful thinking in a good context came true, I had a white Christmas.

@laciejordan Californian women are awesome as Katy would know by her song. I had a feeling you were some kind of American, definitely from a state like a blue state, as a compliment 👀🔵

@laciejordan how's California? I'm sad to see the final weeks/months of Joe's term. I for one, as a foreign guy , often like America best when a Democrat is the Presidency. Ah well sighs. I'll go back to ignoring USA until the next Democrat wins again. I loved the Obama Years and Biden Years 🔵😋👀🙏🏻🥳
Not I, twas' the one armed man.

I don't know. It's gonna be in the 50's again this weekend and I have no clue what next week and beyond is gonna be like but, I was told months ago that we were gonna have a pretty bad winter.

Predicting a strong maybe in my area. I prefer it to snow Christmas Eve personally as not to interfere with work related layover away from home. Snow can be quite a cumbersome obstacle in the Cascades.

We just had a rainstorm, so unless we get snow in the next 13 days, it'll be a green Christmas. We don't get the snow we used to.
