Why In "Joy To The World" do they have it as The Lord Is come instead of has come?

It might be because the Pauline Epistles says that Jesus will not come back until the man of perdition will be revealed and any who claim he has already arrived is a false teacher. They do not want to offend or alienate their listeners with any terms that can be interpreted in more than one way.

Maybe it's supposed to highlight God's eternity. God existed before time. So to say he "has come" is misleading. He was before, he is now, he forever will be. I mean in the song he has come to redeem in human form. But he had always been.

Just a thought.

when they wrote the song that was the proper way of speaking long ago. only now "is come" got new meanings.
has is present time "he has come" like here now so 'is" is the same as has.
