Do any of you outside of the U. S. celebrate American Thanksgiving?

i've been to some Thanksgiving dinners in other parts of the world, sometimes just because i was there but sometimes because they did it anyway

If other countries had a day to give thanks, it would not be the same holiday as American Thanksgiving which has distinct cultural roots specific to America. You could make a case that it also applies to Canada since the two countries have many similarities in both roots and culture.

I've heard of Thanksgiving in movies, I wasn't aware of its meaning 5 minutes ago. Now, I'm aware of Unthanksgiving Day too, thanks !

they are very common in Mexico, yes... especially on the bigger cities, the borders... or whenever American concentrate in larger communities

Right, because they weren't already wiping each other out long before the arrival of Europeans (ex. the Aztec practice of mass human sacrifice in order to appease Quetzalcoatl). And they didn't die of diseases either I guess.

It's so absurd how there is always one who tries to argue for colonization, it's very simple colonization was a bad thing, there can be even good outcomes that happen due to it was still a bad thing.
And celebration of it is just sad.

I didn't say that genocide was a "good thing", but the Spaniards destroying the blood-soaked Aztec Empire most definitely WAS.
And do you really believe that the natives didn't suffer from disease prior to the arrival of the Europeans? That's what you seem to be implying here.

And nope never implied that at all, but now your trying to make it out as if they had diseases that were wiping them out before we even got there which if that was true how on earth were they even alive and having a society that dates far back.
Seems to me like you don't understand the reason why many died was due to foreign diseases which could only happen by the colonization smh.

@Gold618 Also, what another culture does on it's own grounds should be no one else's problem, Let's go over there and wipe them out because they do something on their own land we don't agree with.
We all know how quickly one would change that view if it was the other way around, oh and it does they call them terrorists funnily enough.

Thanksgiving is purely an American festival related to pilgrims expressing gratitude. I believe it is also celebrated in Canada but not in Asia or Europe
