If you open gifts as a family how do you do it? Like does everyone open their gifts at the same time OR does each person take turns opening gifts while everyone else watches?

I came from a big family so it made more sense time wise just for everyone to go nuts and open their gifts at the same time. Also taking turns seems weird

We do not exchange gifts and have not for many years , taking that part out of it was absolutely fantastic , plus we are spread all over the world , so I buy 1x small kris kringle that's it..

When the girls were small we did not do , regimented gift opening , sometimes it was midnight , sometimes they didn't bother , it was freedom to choose , but I've always hated rules , so that always did suit.

Mostly at the same time - especially when the kids were little it was just an opening frenzy. More recently it's been at the same time but a bit slower. I will always wait until everyone else has gotten theirs before I open mine - it's the giver in me I think :)

We have this very old family tradition whereby we start with the youngest member first followed by the eldest member... Than the next youngest, next eldest and so on.

This we shall be doing on Christmas Day Afternoon... In fact in just a few hours time!

We take our time, even as a kid we did - one gift opened at a time, appreciate what we got - especially if the gift giver is in the room and give our thanks. Christmas is supposed to be appreciated and enjoyed, not rushed through like the yulecat rushing through town trying find naughty kids for Gryla to eat.

All together, usually the youngest child is assigned Santa’s elf role, and they give presents out to everyone from the pile of gifts under the tree. We all open one each together.

Never celebrated it. Never grew up with it. However I can respect the culture. I do like the rare people who actually give and not just towards their family. I think Christmas has potential to be a great holiday if practiced to what's actually meant to be for and not just materialistic stuff.

If anything it depends on who I'm with. With my boyfriend, nothing since he doesn't celebrate Christmas. My girlfriend does so we celebrate Christmas eve and Christmas morning. My other girlfriend does Hanukkah. I do yule.

We each open one at a time. My mom starts us off, then my dad, then me, and my sister last. When someone gets down to two, they wait until everyone else gets down to two. Then we finish up.
