What decade were you a kid living the fantasy?

I played with my friends Barbie dolls because I never asked for one and never got one. I loved having more stuffed animals and real pets. I had a Ziggy doll if you know the one!

The gift I really wanted was a miniature puppy. :)

I only once got exactly what i wanted, my Daisy Red Rider BB gun. My favorite Christmas movie of all time is “A Christmas Story”, due in large part to how closely i could identify the Ralphie. My dad and i were never very close, but i’m certain beyond the shadow of all doubt that he is the reason i got that BB gun. I never got anything else that i asked for, and i never asked for anything else that i got.
My favorite things that i got for Christmas that i never asked for were treats for my pets. Watching my cat freak out on catnip or my dog chew on a two-foot long rawhide “bone” was the highlight of my morning!

1984 - My dad showed me the movie Blue Thunder (edited version on tv) and I was in love with that helicopter. We looked all over for a handheld die cast metal one or the big one the size of a gi joe helicopter. But never found one. Years later I found it on eBay and ouch! Also found the die cast one in a toy group called skybirds but ouch on that too. I just make do with the pics I see of them. Other than that my Christmas of 1984 was one if not the best. 🙂👍

Christmas as a family. When I was 10 my mother had been cheating on my father, got him kicked out of our family home and a restraining order against him based on false accusations of domestic abuse and was preventing him from seeing me and my siblings. She had also moved another guy in who we didn't like. Christmas was miserable that year, I didn't get to see my father for 4 years and only started to because my older sister when she was 17 was left to babysit us for long periods would sneak us out of the house to see him across town. By that stage our father was getting remarried and having another child.

@cherrylove007 there was used to be a pink unicorn that I always wanted when I was kid , till age 8.

after age 8 I knew I won’t get that gift. 🫤, so I stopped hope.

My parents were usually pretty good about getting us what we wanted as long as it was reasonable. I remember the year they got us our first gaming console which unlocked a life long fascination with video games for me. I still have that console (NES) to this day.

If anything I might have wanted a game that they just didn't get til my birthday which is in the summer so it was a long wait lol.
