Has a line from a movie ever made you feel “seen”?

“Gremlins” is one of my favorite Christmas movies. I’m going to create a new term here, ‘anti-Christmas’. I’m going to use this term similarly to antihero. Being anti-Christmas isn’t about opposing the holiday per se, but it’s about celebrating very differently. Kinda the way an antihero isn’t a villain, but they’re definitely not a classic hero either.

This scene has always resonated with me. I have never loved Christmas the way so many people do, and i never could express that feeling exactly because of what “Kate” shares in this scene. I really thought i was the only one in the whole world who felt the way i did, until i saw “Gremlins”. I knew that there had to be at least one other person if that line was written into a popular movie.

The scene where the Joker turns Harvet Dent to become Two-face. This scene had me seriously questioning whether i was GOOD or not. Because I think we all like to consider ourselves good people with a sense of right and wrong. But we live in a world where so much wrong just get ignored. Where we all play by the rules while other skirt those rules or ignore the altogether and seemingly pay no price for it. Harvey was supposed to Gotham's white knight. He did everything lawfully and fought crime relentlessly. And it cost him everything. I Joker EQUISITELY proved we're all just one series of bad events from going down the dark path of two-face. Or at least I am. Because I was cheering the Joker in this moment. In this moment the world made sense. In this moment I was OK with CHAOS I was OK with watching this world burn. Because we're either all playing by the rules or we're not. And if we're not, then why have ANY rules.
