When I was young, I went to parties and got wasted.

Once I had a good job and money in the later half of my 20s, I took girlfriends to nice restaurants that had entertainment. I took girlfriends to the New Year's Eve at the Queen Mary several times, watched the fireworks at midnight, kissed and listened to the orchestra play Auld Lang Sine.
Then we would come back home and ring in the new year properly with serious cork popping.

I did the same think with my wife each year, too.

Then, from about 2005 to 2000, friends of ours had a karaoke party at their house. I would get drunk and loosen up. We would count down the last seconds before midnight, theyn pop confetti and toast.
All that stopped when those people bought the covid paranoia.

Since then, my wife and I have stayed home, popped the cork, and watched fireworks displays around the world starting at 9:00 PST.

Ohh I used to want to go to the queen mary so bad but for some reason I never went. I bet that was really fun.

You really had some good times. It’s funny because that is my plan tonight with friends. We’re having a sleepover lol… and we’ll dance, sing karaoke, and loosen up. We even bought some confetti to pop haha…

Covid really did ruin things so much though… it’s a shame.

I already told you before but I always enjoy reading your responses and I hope more couples end up like you and your wife.

Ordered in an Indian Takeaway. and a giant Biscoff Waffle for dessert.

Made myself a Southern Comfort with Lemonade mixer, (Gin for the Mrs).

Lit some candles, sat down to watch a Pirates Of The Caribbean Marathon.

Mrs is already asleep before dessert and end of film 2... I'll keep going until the dessert is done lol - probably asleep with a podcast on before the first fireworks!

I'm 57 and retired Veteran - seen enough bangs and rockets to last me - and I know nothing will change between now and the arbitrary hour of midnight - so I'm cool with that

I honestly watch the ball drop with friends and sometimes family as well if they aren't working. This year my bestie and her mom will be here to celebrate with me but no champagne unfortunately because her mom doesn't drink. And I see what you did there lol

When I was in my band, we'd usually play somewhere every New Years Eve night and bring in the year with a room full of fans.
Otherwise, I'll step out on the porch at midnight and listen to everyone else yell, maybe throw in a few of my own and watch the fireworks being shot off a mile from here.
