+1 yIs marriage worth it for women?
Short answer yes. In a best case it causes men into being life partners and devoting themselves and their resources to them. Worst case it locks men into alimony and child support.
Long answer is it depends on what you seek. If you want to be cared for then yes. If you just want sex and money then no. Fact is men don’t respect or take care of women that aren’t on their perceived level. A good woman’s worth the effort and will be loved and cared for and if not the laws completely support women at the cost of men in regards to everything from alimony and child support to rate of imprisonment and sentencing.
If you just want that good feeling till it’s gone the current societies the best you can ask for and not getting married in your favor…
Women say they want to live and be loved… but they also say they don’t want to marry someone that ugly or short or broke. They don’t even believe in the vows of “in sickness and in health for better or worse until death do us part.” If you consider divorce an option then you do not even believe in the value of marriage beyond what a partner can bring to your life.
I believe women want their day and pretty white dress but when it comes time to perform the duties expected of them they talk bad about the same expectations they have for us. Marriage is committing yourself to each other mentally, physically, emotionally, and sexually. They can’t accept this with all the pretty feminist bullshit flying around.
I think it’s up to each individual to decide if something “worth it” but as to whom it benefits… most definitely women benefit most if not singularly from 90% of marriages. Of the remaining 10% are true marriage. The ones that compromise and recognize the important of BOTH sides benefiting and that everything is not always 50:50 so long as everything gets accomplished your a team.210 Reply- +1 y
what's so bad about being "stuck" with child support? you didn't have an issue creating that child, now did you? why do men think being required to support their own offspring even after a divorce is such an incredible demand. as for the alimony bit, just sign a prenup. big deal. i would too, because chances are, i will be as rich if not richer than my husband, so i wouldn't want his paws on my money. in my opinion alimony is bullshit. supporting a child is entirely different, but a grown ass adult, get out of here.
- +1 y
@DianaWest off where have you been!!! I’ve been wanting this discussion for so long but women don’t normally walk directly into it…
Ok so look. Supporting your child isn’t bad at all. However! If a man wants the kids and the woman dont is 100% her choice he has no legal say. If a woman wants it but the man don’t same thing only this time he’s on the line for child support. I get the reason behind it but a man SHOULD have a say to his parental rights. Women have complete control of reproduction and that’s very one sided. Tell you what… if he made the kid forced them into marriage until the kids 18 and I 100% support that kinda support! There’s cases where it’s not even biologically theirs and men have been forced to pay child support.
Words from a lawyers mouth… prenups get thrown out in court all the time by saying they were signed under duress. Besides alimony was from a time when women were expected to give up their careers for the family. Now equality is pushed for women’s right to make more than a man. So many women were pissed Adele had to pay alimony even called it manimony…
Also one more thing about child support. A few years ago a man lost his job and his ex wife agreed to lower his child support payments… when they went to court to make it happen the court said no they would not lower them…

then men should just stop having sex if they don't want kids. how could you tell a woman you don't want kids, and expect her to have an abortion because you say so because "your wallet your choice?" until a man is prepared to take on the responsibility of potentially becoming a father, he should just refrain from having sex. money is worthless and you can wipe your ass with it. a human being is much more valuable. asking a woman to have an abortion against her will is hardly fair. and she could have complications if she ever wants to have children in the future. if she agrees to the abortion, that's a different story, but don't compare a human being with your damn money. if roles were reversed, and men could get pregnant instead of women, and the woman was waving her money in the air and pressuring you to get an abortion even though you want to have your own baby, would you do it? on the other hand, i really think the idea that one should pay alimony is complete bullshit. i support the idea of child support, but fuck out of here with alimony. the bitch can get her ass off the couch and go flip a burger or two to make her own money. same with a man. i don't think anyone should be forced to financially support a grown ass adult. the reason why women want marriage, or at least why i do, is because i want commitment and i want to be able to trust a guy. how am i supposed to trust that you won't run off into the sunset with the next woman with big boobs and leave me single and pregnant with twins? i want a husband more for the sake of my future babies than for myself, because i could damn well take care of myself, but it would break my heart to see my babies suffer because daddy decided to cozy up to the secretary.
- +1 y
Look. You cannot just say a man don’t have the right to choose but a woman does… I’m heavily pro-life. Abortion is murder of the worse kind. But that’s not how the world is. You cannot expect a man not to take sex if he don’t want a kid because you know women wouldn’t… these women don’t want kids but their still out there fucking too. It’s a trash world we live in.
Perfect society? Marriage is permanent. People recognized this and were both faithful and knowing their stuck force themselves to work together to overcome their individual weakness… the truth sucks. The truth is if I want to date a woman most expect me to still be chivalrous, pay for the date, ask her out, ask her to marry me all while demanding equal treatment in every way that benefits but not that hurts her… she wants equal pay but don’t want to roll in shit as a plumber. To date I have to approach her which if I’m not liked it could be harassment and I can go to jail in very extreme cases… men have been arrested for rape without proof for helping women change tires… approaching is dangerous. Marriage literally has no benefit to men they don’t get from ltr… but it sure as hell comes with big drawbacks. Alimony may not be fair but it still exists. There’s stories of men being forced to pay child support even though they were tricked. Sperm jacking a a thing… even a sperm donor for hit with child support.
Marriage is worthless because it means literally nothing to most people… but the real answer is women arnt worth it. Maybe you as a person are kind, beautiful, loving but your gender as a whole is too dangerous and “ugly” to bother with.

@DeltaCharlieEcho this pretty much sums it up. A bunch of girls with princess complex who will never be satisfied, no way to make them happy, so they are empowered to divorce rape you, or worse hit you with silver bullet divorce. They will make all kinds of false allegations that they say doesn't happen, and the guy is encouraged to suck start a shotgun and now we have scores of women asking why aren't guys commiting? Why is marriage on the decline. Why are all these toxic masculine men going their own way?
And knowing that, why isn't laws being changed to make marriage and divorce more equitable, but according this individual correctly claims, more men would seek divorce if they could.

I believe it was Pew who did the study in the early 2000's and men with prenuptial agreements actually initiated divorce even less than men without them. The argument of divorce not favoring men as to why they don't file just doesn't hold up.
- +1 y
@yofuknutz I already gave up LOL
- +1 y
@yofuknutz You need to accept the fact that women nowadays do not need men to survive. If she is unhappy with you she will just divorce you. We live in an age where women have choices, options, and we live in an era where a woman's self worth is no longer tied to finding a husband.
So if you want a woman, you better think about what you have to offer her rather than demanding what she can offer you. Remember that if women are not happy, they won't hesitate to divorce especially if divorce laws are IN HER FAVOR. - +1 y
@Qdbrown there are amicable divorces and then there are the ones where one side refuses to sign divorce paperwork. You can really fuck shit up if you refuse to sign paperwork as a male. If she decides to sleep with another while you are refusing to sign paperwork, her case is basically nullified and the man will win if he has a good lawyer.
It’s not guaranteed but there’s a great chance if she does and that’s a sure fire way to make sure she doesn’t get the kids if they are part of the divorce.
It can be if the woman is competent in relationship management and marries a guy who is as equally competent and compatible. The fact is, this is exactly where most women (and men) screw up. Most people get married to the wrong person and have no idea until it’s too late.

+1 yAt any time, a woman can divorce her husband and get alimony. Even if they both are working and make the same amount of money. And if there are kids involved, she automatically gets custody and also child support. Less than 13% of the time do men get any kind of custody in a divorce involving children. The court system heavily favors women. It's in the best interests of the court to award alimony and child support to the woman since the court gets a cut of the payment and statistically men make more than women. So I'd say yes, marriage is definitely worth it for women.
41 Reply- +1 y
It's basically a golden ticket to near permanent financial support.
It depends who they marry and what they want out of life.
Some women are happy being married and others struggle with the concept of one man for the rest of their lives.
Getting married is fun, making babies together is fun, but the responsibility of being married can get old. Especially when they see their single friends on Instagram travelling the world.
I almost think a marriage licence should be like a driver's license that couples go and get renewed every 5 years or else it expires.01 Reply- +1 y
Married people travel the world, too.
+1 ydepends the same question could be asked
is Marriage worth it for men?
both questions show the concern for marriage and however this might put strain on the idea that really falls to the two people cause to me its just a paper that says your together however it has some meaning like being faithful wanting to care for them when they are sick, old, or grey. but i guess thats because im a senta-mental type of person i like the things being passed down like an old house or a car it shows it has value because of who had owned it but things fall apart sometimes and things lose that value so really the question is what is marriage worth to you?00 Reply
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yApparently not since women file 70% of divorces in heterosexual marriages, and same sex marriages between women are almost twice as likely as heterosexual marriages to end in divorce.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divorce_of_same-sex_couples
I cannot speak to the reasons why women are so much less committed in marriage long term, or whether marriage is worth it to women. But it is very clear marriage is no longer worth it for men. Men today get a fraction of the benefits in marriage that their counterparts did decades ago, and the risks to men now are far higher than in the past, and far higher than the risks to women. That's why marriage rates are at an all time low and men are turning their backs on marriage in record numbers.313 Reply
Opinion Owner+1 y@aliali8 I think that's a very superficial explanation that does not capture what is really going on. Let's look at some facts. If we compare divorce rates between heterosexual couples, gay couples and lesbian couples, lesbian couples have the highest rate of divorce, by far, and gay couples have the lowest rate of divorce. In other words, women are the common denominator in the high divorce rate we see today. Husbands are not even part of the picture in the group with the highest divorce rate, and the more women are involved, the higher the divorce rate goes.
Put another way, if a woman's dissatisfaction with her partner is the problem, then women are the worst offenders of all.
So can you explain that to me?- +1 y
I think that its because women can afford to divorce compared to many years ago during the 1950s-1990s where women would be stuck being housewives until their deaths. Women back then were not encouraged to have careers so many of them could not divorce since they had no means to survive on their own.
You also need to keep in mind that just because women are initiating divorces, it doesn't mean that men are happy in the marriages either. Divorce laws are in favor of women, which may be the reason why men are less likely to initiate divorce even though they are unhappy with their wives.
Opinion Owner+1 y@aliali8 Men can "afford to" divorce too, so that does not explain why women are so much more likely to initiate divorce.
Also, the fact that the divorce rate among lesbian couples is far higher than any other group seems to suggest your argument about men being disadvantaged in divorce court is not relevant either.
Any other insights?
Opinion Owner+1 y@aliali8 Lesbian couples are indeed much more likely to divorce. It has been studied and well documented all over the world, not just in the US.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divorce_of_same-sex_couples
And again, your argument about men not being able to divorce is pointless. When women are involved in a marriage the divorce rate skyrockets. In marriages where no women are involved the divorce rate is very low. Add a woman (heterosexual marriages) and the divorce rate goes way up. Add another woman (lesbian marriage) and the divorce rate is the highest of all.
Women are the common denominator in high divorce rates.
Opinion Owner+1 y@aliali8 Everything you wrote there is completely beside the point. Such an immature response.
Opinion Owner+1 y@aliali8 More ignorance.
Opinion Owner+1 y@aliali8 The problem is obviously women, not men. That is crystal clear from the facts and statistics, at least to anyone with any intellectual honesty.
Most men and women want to get married. But men are learning what it actually means to marry a woman today, and they only want to marry a good woman who actually mean it when she says "for better or worse, 'til death do us part". Unfortunately, there are very few women now who actually meet that description. That's why the divorce rate is so high when a woman is involved. It's why men are avoiding marriage in record numbers. And it's why the institution of marriage is in decline and will likely not last more than another generation.
Yes, women have more power today than in the past, and it says a lot about women's character when we see how they are using it. Women are destroying marriage, and it has nothing to do with men treating them better. But it doesn't surprise me that a modern woman would say that. It's a symptom of the larger problem with women today.
+1 yIs it worth it for men?
Let's go back to the basics, though - my (while trying to get the steps/the order of things right) feelings are - conception with someone you like and desire first, then looking for a house to buy (to her preferences I would say - me, it's not difficult, and I'd be paying for most of it - unless she wants to).
Marriage, in that case, would be a contract about the child's (and hers) safety - providing the conception was with me (because quite a number of women try multi-man sex for that; to which men then just go spread their seeds) - I would want m child and its mother to be in safety/security, financial and otherwise (a place to live and at least money for the basics).
To me that seems reasonable/responsible (if boring as far as super-glamorous movie stories go).10 ReplyFor women, currently, especially in the west, yes marriage is worth it for women, and much more so than men. Alimony, child custody and family courts are all favorable towards women. Women also initiate about 70-80% of all the divorce. Now sure you can say that now women have the option to divorce that they didn't before, however in that case, shouldn't it be near 50-50.
00 Reply310 opinions shared on Marriage & Weddings topic. Divorce courts in favour of women, an entire system with special rights, privileges, benefits for women (married or single), alimony, child support, maternity leave and the system constantly struggles to find more ways to make the life of a married woman easier and more privileges. I believe it's a good enough deal for you. If it wasn't then women who hit the wall wouldn't beg for marriage only to demand a divorce 5 years later and secure their retirement plans.
