I used to think that, but the legalization of gay marriage made me reconsider and think, why limit to just ONE? Rights are not limited to one, why not have legal polygamists? One man and many women or other types of poly marriages, like two women and a man, or two men and a women where they all love each other and are married to each other.
Especially when you consider that people in those relationships are going to do them anyways, regardless of if they get married or not. A man with many wives will only legally marry one but then have others he wants to take care of and tries to do so. Technically married guys can have a mistress and its not a crime but have a second wife and it is... seems just weird and odd.
Same could be said of women though to, in reverse.
To be honest though, I don't think marriage should be regulated by the government at all, it wasn't for years until they wanted to try and decide who could marry who. Get the government out of marriage and just let whoever do it however they want, without it being between two people and the government.
I know sometimes I'm so conservative on things, other times I'm quiet liberal, I'm definitely weird like that.
Only between man and woman? No… People have redefined the meaning of marriage, outside of religious beliefs… Which allows couples of all kinds to get married. I believe others have the right to marry whomever they want.
Update: What’s wrong with us?
Well, my friend, society has changed. Many people don’t care who people want to marry, doesn’t matter gender. It doesn’t affect your lie, does it? Not your marriage, not your business…
Marriage isn’t seen as a historically religious union between man and woman anymore. It’s now seen a legal union between two partners. Gender doesn’t matter. It’s as simple as that.
you can't redefine nature. nature will always get you in the end. tolerating sexual deviants is inompatible with democracy. diversity destroys democracy
@007kingifrit Thanks for your input, my opinion still stands… I simply do not care.
I think it's an option for anyone and everyone that wants to get married. Including someone that wants to marry their body pillow. Because a person doing so does not directly effect me. Also because I fully understand that no one is going to 100% comply with a given person or groups definition of what marriage should be. So I'm not going to sit here and fight to force every one to comply with the views of group a, b or c.
The way folks ask questions here is just weird.
Of course I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman.
That isn't your question. Your question is or at least should be, would you support a law restricting marriage to just being between men and women?
Which I would not.
I don't give a crap if a dude wants to marry a mosquito.
Good luck to him and his.

I strongly disagree
People should be allowed to marry whomever they want. Why should people be denied their happiness just because a bunch of narrow-minded sadists think so?
We only live for a few decades, why live in misery or deny other's happiness? What do you get out of hating them?
and also, not everyone is a Christian or religious.
Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed because of the homosexuality and all the sinful things happening in there. The men of the town wanted to rape the angels who were also men. But personally I'm not going to go out of my way to say anything against a homosexual person. I'm leaving it up to god, that's his job not mine.
I dont care either way its none of my business nor my right to pass judgement. To each their own. We should be more focused on what we are doing in our own lives than focuced on other people's romantic choices.
A good marriage is one that is happy emotionally stable and suits both people envolved.
There is no reason to believe marriage should be only one man, one woman. Why should I care if two women want to get married? Or two men?
Are you always disappointed when you find out people don’t agree with you?
Personally I very much do think this... However, nowadays I do feel we must somehow try to Live and Let Live.
No should be for anyone who loves each other and wants to get married. I see nothing wrong with it.
You can't help who you love and are sexually interested in. Everyone should have the right to marry if they want
I would say so when God place man upon the Earth he gave him one woman as a companion.
I believe that marriage should be between two consenting adults who love each other and want to live their lives together.
“What’s wrong with me”? Let’s see, maybe because it is NOT for ME to decide who someone falls in love with, and wants to commit to.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve plus Ginger and Mary Ann
100% yes. the court should overturn sexually deviant marriage next
I'm all in favor of same-sex unions, just don't call it marriage.
Why not?
@OrallyFixated Marriage is a commitment between a man and a woman, been that way for millennia, typically with the ultimate goal to procreate and continue the species. Same sexes cannot procreate.
I disagree that any of those reasons are significant enough to require a separate name for a union that is identical in every way, except for the sex of the people involved.
Reproduction isn’t really a benchmark either because many people who cannot reproduce for various reasons still get to call their union a marriage.
Just because something has always been done a certain way, doesn’t mean it can’t be changed.
Tradition shouldn’t stifle progress. Our institutions need to evolve to address the needs of our current population. Not the needs of people from a hundred years ago.
@OrallyFixated I agree that tradition shouldn’t stifle progress, and if our institutions need to evolve, why not create a new term rather than continue to use one that has a specific meaning for centuries? We don't call a car a chariot even though they are essentially the same, a means of wheeled transportation.
So if you were told you are not allowed to drive a car, you can only use a chariot, you’d be okay with that because they are essentially the same?
I hope you live somewhere warm.
I really don’t give a damn what everyone else does 🤷♂️
Better things to do then meddle in someone else’s personal life?
Yes, but a man can marry 4 women at a time in Muslims, and in some cultures, one woman can have multiple husbands
Yeah, polygamy is harmful. Nothing good ever comes out of that.
No... Marriage isn't what it used to be in the 1900s.
God created love in all shapes and forms. It was man that wrote the bible.
It should be between 2 (and only 2) consenting adults.
That's what marriage is, by definition.
Nope
Do you?
Yes.
okay
Do you mind sharing why you think that? You don't have to if you're not in the mood
It's the way God designed it. The biological anatomy of a man and woman is what fits perfectly and is compatible for sex and creating human life.
Two penis and two vaginas just aren't compatible for sex nor can create life. It doesn't make logical sense.
Not everyone believes in God or the same God you believe in
(I'm assuming you're Christian or Catholic, please correct me if I'm wrong)
Oka, but D+D and V+V still have sex and creating life shouldn't mean you can't marry.
Off topic but kinda not, do you think same-sex couples would benefit kids without parents? I'm pretty sure they're more likely to adopt than couples who can reproduce with each other (at least in the US)
I don't need religion to tell me the obvious like I don't need another person telling me that water is wet.
Same sex couple relationships isn't natural against biology.
And no it won't benefit a child to have same sex couples as a parent.
Children are innocent and they don't need to grow up around such twisted perversion.
How is it a twisted perversion?
A lot of the food we eat isn't natural, cars aren't natural, phones aren't natural, heck the internet isn't natural. We don't allow things based on whats natural or not.
"I don't need religion to tell me the obvious like I don't need another person telling me that water is wet."
Yes, but some people use solely religion as the reason behind their beliefs
Same-sex attraction is actually a completely natural occurrence and has been recorded in 1,000 species and doesn't hurt anyone.
Animals don't possess a moral conscience to know right from wrong unlike humans.
But they experience attraction and thats natural
Young lady animals are driven by instincts of survival and domination.
They don't posses the ability to reason like humans especially between right and wrong.
We are animals, don't forget that
It doesn't matter if we're driven by instincts of survival and domination, same-sex attraction is still natural and rn we are the dominant species. there's enough hetero couples to continue an entire generation so our chances of survival are fine.
Your "right or wrong" of this isn't a fact its an opinion
Yes. That's what my country's constitution says.
Nope. Not any of my business.
I don’t really believe in marriage
Yes of course
Yes im
Nope.
