Should we Abolish State Sanction Partnerships?

Anonymous
Regarding partnerships, marriage, etc. An increasing majority of people are opting out of marriage, and we could be looking at a population decline without increased immigration.
Since we’ve achieved equality more or less under the law, should that not be extended to partnerships? Religious institutions could retain the definition of marriage, but the state would no longer recognize legal partnerships unless a child is involved, in which case both parents could contribute 50%.

Do you think this would solve some of the contention between men and women and encourage more natural interactions and relations?
Yes, this is the natural evolution of a society.
No, this could destroy the fabric of society.
