Compatible morals, compatible long term life goals, discussing and solving issues within your relationship privately without involving family/friends in the discussions. Staying trustworthy for your partner. Both people need to stay in good physical shape for each other or both can let themselves go. It is unfair and will cause resentment if one partner stays in shape and the other doesn't.

Have a regular date day/night each week. You don't necessarily have to go somewhere, but you do need time for just the two of you.

This really depends on the marriage. Since every marriage is different. I say if you’re struggling in your marriage. I think nothing is perfect and at some point most people have problems.


I would recommend professional marriage counseling. In the case of someone sexually cheating. I say it should be divorce.

You need to remember how happy you are WITH someone and realize how empty your life would be without them.

I know when I go to bed with my wife, that's the time I get to spend all night with her. Sure... we're sleeping nearly all that time, but if we wake up in the night, we both have the comfort the other one's there. And I love waking up next to her in the morning!

Looking for someone who is a good match and has good qualities for a long term relationship (people who you want to date don't always make for good spouses). Then communication, honesty, and loyalty. And then taking the time to keep the fire going.
