The coolest and most fun wedding i have ever been to was on the cheeper side. This couple i know wanted to get married. So they made a Facebook group and invited everyone they wanted in their wedding to tje group. They listed the things they would like to. First spot was location, they asked openly to everyone in the group if we had a spot that is beautiful, easy to access and so on. Lots of suggestions came up from many. We ended up at the summer house of a friend, it was in old times a farm in the mountains. A large house, large barn made into a "party" house and a killer View. A few cabins close buy, a few had tents and a few had campers. The cost of location? Nothing. Food, they wanted a propper wedding cake so their parents paid for that. But everything else pluss drinks came from everyone else. We all made what we wanted to make, from dinners, bbq, cakes and what have you and we bring it there and some was made there. Cost? What ever the guest paid for it. Band, well a few of the friends was in a band. Was the best wedding i have ever been to. And it costed next to nothing.

How old are the bride and groom?

Is this the first wedding for both of them?

Are the two sets of parents able to contribute financially?

Is this something that the peple involved can truly afford, or is it an extravagance that they should forego?

I am 68 years old and will be getting married next spring. Not the first wedding for either of us. My mother is still alive, and her father is still alive, but neither will be asked to contribute anything at all.

The bride and the groom should pay for their own wedding. Parents can help in paying if they want to but I’d consider that a huge wedding gift! If you can’t afford your own wedding, go small. Go to court and get married and eat out at a small restaurant! It’s the vows and commitment that count. Not the grandeur of a dream wedding

Traditionally it used be the bride's parents, but nowadays it's become more acceptable for both the bride and groom to pay equal amounts.

We were so very lucky and fortunate indeed, that both our parents contributed one third each, with us putting the final third.

My family paid for most of our wedding- my husband's family did contribute what they comfortably could.

Unless there happens to be some religious or other culture followings, that certainly would never happen here in the UK!

Yup and I love this part of our culture lol. It’s basically just a gentleman gesture and a gift to the wife

In America, it’s always been the tradition. The bride pays for the wedding her parents.

The man if he is the sole provider, if not both should pay for it
