Why is that in most cases, the husband shoots the man his wife is cheating with... instead of shooting her?

Whether it is husband, wife, polys, and/or LGBT there are but a few of such type actions described in question. Given this, it is likely that you are watching a personality or psychology thoroughly reveal its capability. It is likely that such an individual has a high need for Control. Often, such behavior is expressed as possessiveness, "Mine", and with an air of ownership. This is way to broad of a question and perhaps you would be better served with a clinical or abnormal psych class.
You have Personalities such as sociopaths, psychopaths, narcissists and some believe that there is some kind of continuum involving these three.-This is above my pay grade... If these then basically it is a Me, Myself, and I need fulfillment via judgment and retribution to reclaim Control. And, some of these have kids so there must be a anti-social and/or disconnect such as a sociopath or psychopath.
I suppose it’s a reaction to someone taking what is his, violating the one that he loves.
It’s like going to a bar with your wife and another man grabs your wife’s ass.
Your immediate reaction would be to get confrontational with the man that touched your woman.
I believe the same thing may be happening here unconsciously, but at a much more intense level.
The first instinct is to fight the man, and later on, comes the realization and comprehension of the complexity of the situation.
What cases are you referring to?
Here is the most recent one:

That’s sad for sure. I think things like this also refer to women. These people blame the other party rather than the person who actually owes them loyalty and destroyed it. It’s a sad way of thinking.

He probably rationalized it with the thought that the other man is taking what's his. Rather than killing any of them, just brand her forehead with an CHEAT and his with THIEF. At the very least, people will know what scum they are. I'd just get a divorce, but knowing the court system, I'd probably lose everything.
Because he still loves her, and thinks the other party put them up to it. Until they cheat again.
Because he might still love the ho, he should shot them both, as they are partners in crime.
Agree, I've never understood this either. Not worth it dude
Montana has/had a law stating that a man was justified for shooting both if he found them in bed together.
Texas did too until 1974.
