Should I do covering in the home?

I'm habitual of covering when going out. Before marriage I was in my house living with my brothers and sisters so I didn't do covering in the house. Now, I'm married and my husband house is a joint family where his brothers also lives. So, should I also do covering from them in house. Because are non-mahrams.

Ah man, family stuff can be tricky. On one hand, your husband's brothers aren't technically mahrams so you probably should cover up around them. But it's also your house now too and you don't want things to be weird or uncomfortable living there. Maybe have a respectful talk with your husband about finding a compromise. Like covering your hair but not necessairly your face when you're just quickly passing by in the house or something. Or you could cover fully when they're home but it's okay to be more casual when it's just you and your husband alone. Or they could try giving you space too so it doesn't feel too crowded. As long as everyone is being respectful I'm sure you can work something out. Communication is key, so talk it through with your husband and I'm sure y'all can agree on boundaries that make you both comfortable in your home.

Within your home, if there are non-mahrams, such as your husband's brother, uncles, or cousin brothers present, then you should observe your hijab. It is your right in Islam to ask your husband for separate accommodation, a kitchen, and a bathroom.


When observing hijab, the following conditions should be met.
Proper Hijab should: 1. Should cover all the body. 2. Should not be an adornment in and of itself. 3. Should be thick and not transparent or see-through. 4. Should be loose. 5. Should not be perfumed. 6. Should not resemble the clothing of men. 7. Should not resemble the dress of disbelieving women. 8. Should not be a garment of fame and vanity.
